Fly with human(s) Problem solved
-
Not sure if this will help or not but I have found a couple of things seem to work with wingmen. First of all you really have to communicate with themā¦ not just tell them to attack. Once we are airborne and formed up I usually tell them to take on a specific formationā¦ i.e. Fluid ā¦ then tell them to āShoot on my command onlyā ā¦ this seems to be especially important especially when they identify an air target and it pops up on the IDMā¦ I immediately tell them AGAIN to shoot on my command only else they take off in pursuit and burn all their gas.
When approaching a ground target I tell them to āGo Trailā ā¦ some times also to āKick outā to give some extra time ā¦ then I set up my ground target on TGP and drop ordinance ā¦ if it is a single target i.e. a bridge, after I drop both bombs I tell the wing to āattack my targetā and as soon as they confirm I tell them AGAIN to attack my target ā¦ I have never formally checked this out but I get them to drop both bombs on the target. If different targets I target them and again tell them twice to attack those. If dropping on a runway for example I will target different sections for the wing and element but always tell them to drop multiple timesā¦ if they have 4 bombs between them I will make sure I give 4 commands back to back ā¦ I have also split the targetsā¦ such as target one end of the runway ā¦ tell element to attackā¦ target the other part of the runway ā¦ give another attack order then go back to the first target and order another drop there and then go back to the second and give a second attack command on that target as well.
This seems to work for me as I have seen both my bombs and my wingmanās hit the same bridge or target (four explosions). I am wondering if it works because I am telling them to attack the target while my bombs are still in the air and so the target has not yet been destroyed ā¦ it may be that if you tell them to attack a destroyed target they will still acknowledge the order but not drop because there is no longer a target there (developers??). As I said, I have not confirmed this with tests but it does seem to work. I have found you do have to communicate with them all the time as they are pretty dumb so I am constantly asking them to form up, come closer, weapons hold and say status etc. so they donāt end up flying into the wild blue yonder and running out of gas. I am interested to hear if anyone else has found similar results.

So im flying a strike mission in sp rolling fire .
My wing and i both had 4 gbuās .
I tell him attack my target,he drops one gbu, destroys the target.
I assign another target,he acknowledged it .
But heās heading back to homebase.
I tell him rejoin,he says ok,then tell him to attack my target again.he says ok but continues back to homebase.
Wtf !!!
He had no damage, kept acknowledging my commands but landed anyway. I tried to recall him couple different times ,he said ok but never did .
Im assuming he simply followed the steerpoints and time slots but did land early anyway.
What i miss? What was his fuel remaining?

Fly with human(s) Problem solved
Sorry but please, STOP with those kind comment. Otherwise there and is no point in continuing development of Falcon4.

Good point deejay, i know he never called bingo or anything .
And yes, some of us still cannot get high speed internet but decided not to reply about flying with humans.
Thanks -
What was his fuel remaining?
That was my 1st thoughtā¦ oldtommyboy, you know you can ask him his Fuel State - hit w four times, then 8ā¦ Likely he reported Bingo fuel and you missed it, but itās always a good idea to check on his (and the Elementās if you have one) weapon and fuel stateā¦

The AI AG attack is totally bugged since falcon 4.0 - 1.05 (i didnāt test earlier versions )
In the past some attempts have been made to try to patch it and improve itā¦but unfortunately with very limited results
To tell you the truth I donāt even understand how they actually engage or hit something.
This whole part of code needs a total rewrite. It will take 3 to 4 weeks
In short: no need to spend time to report AG attack bugs : we KNOW

Thanks guys, yeah i do check theyre status after their first drop.sometimes it works to assign another target, sometimes not. Ive seem them hotdogging, upside down, circles around me,straight up, among other things,ha.
Basicly i consider them expendable,if they do as told, great, if they dont o well.
I just fiqure on doing the mission myself ,ground targets anyway.
I try to plan the mission as a one drop attack ,let them drop first and then see whats left and if they attack again when ordered.
If not ,o well, kinda planned it.
Dont always have a good outcome but thats war.
All these years flying sp because no good internet and yet i still love this thing.
And now, loving the different theaters.
So, i just take it for what it is and have fun. -

Now that Starlink has gone live iāve been reading some reviews and it āseemsā the DL and UL speeds are pretty good, and most importantly the latency is quite low for a satellite connectionā¦

Understood

These quirks seem to āpop upā at the most inopportune times as well Usually the Wingy AI is pretty good at getting steel on target. BUT. The past two flights its reared its head. First flight was 2-ship. Locked a tank in TGP, said Attack Targets. He set one rifle on its way, turned 180 and headed home. I called rejoin, which he did, but refused to target anything else. Bingo was not an issue as we had just arrived at AOR. Second flight was a 4-ship. Sent Element as described above, and sent wing to another column nearby. Element decimated their group, but again my wingy let one rifle go and stuck to my wing for the rest of the tripā¦Soā¦Who knows, apparently not the Devs

Iāve actually had excellent luck using my TGP to assign AGM-154C targets, donāt really remember a drop failure but the second I hear āBruiserā I order a Weapons Hold and a Rejoin command. Now, GBUs usually all get dropped at once no matter what I do and I donāt use Mavericks so canāt comment. This is in 4.34.4 (no 4.35 for me until the MP CTDs are fixed) but I seem to remember 4.35 working about the same. And while iām thinking about it, why does BMS report āRifleā to me for my human wingman when he drops a Bruiser (154C)?

Latency wasnāt the only issue that put Satellite internet users in the doghouse. If theyāve found a way to get around poor connection in stormy weather or electrical storms, theyāll get my money for sureā¦ (waitā¦ can you attach a Starlink to a Honda Accord? might be able to play online while camping, rainy days do get boring up there)
-
Hmm. Iām trying to track a similar problem with Wingy and / or Element going off home before weāve finished the party. Maybe it is a fuel thing as Attack Targets seems to work so well as long as I keep dragging him back! Iāll try a closer target with plenty of fuel and report back!
Nopeā¦ not fuel. But then I see itās already recognised as buggedā¦ so Iāll shut up

Great tips Valky. I also notice cycling them from āweapons freeā to āweapons safeā and back, can sometimes get them to re-engage.
āHave you tried turning your wingman off and then back on again?ā

Another thing is AI dropping two or even four JDAMs at once, even though one will totally do the job. Just why?
My wingmen are also near useless when it comes to A-A. For some reason, red got all the smart AI pilots and I get the dumb ones.
-
Fact is: Red AIs and Blue AIs are identicals. The only difference between the Flights are the leaders.
-

That might be doctrine, in that they are not expecting to make multiple passes or loiter at the target area. So we need some more control over their targeting behaviour to change that.
-
They are not dropping the JDAM on the same DMPI. So no, the JDAM are no wasted.

I call āattack targetā and they drop several at the same target.
