[RESOLVED] BMS 4.35.1 - Closes / Crashes after launch
-
Hey all, running into an odd issue here.
BMS is closing (or crashing but without any error messages) after the launch screen - so I open the launcher, click on “launch”, the “Falcon BMS” launch screen shows up and then it closes without the game itself actually launching.
I’ve had the same problem yesterday, so I reinstalled 4.35.1 and it worked. But after restarting the computer I’m running into this problem again.
For reference:
I’m running:- Windows 10 Home Single Language
- Version 10.0.19042 Build 19042
- System Type x64-based PC
- Processor Intel Core i5-8265U CPU @ 1.60GHz, 1800 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
- Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
- GPU 0: Intel UHD Graphics 620
- GPU 1: NVIDIA GeForce MX110
- Antivirus: McAfee Live Safe (with Windows Defender off)
I have tried:
- Launching BMS as admin
- Launching BMS in compatibility mode (Windows 7 and “Disable fullscreen optimizations”
- Disabling Windows 10’s Xbox game companion / game bar and DVR
Note that McAfee quaratined the “KoreaObj.LOD” file, but when I try restoring it it asks for an overwrite (as I believe Falcon creates another of these files). Anyhow, it didn’t stop me from launching the game yesterday (with this file quarantined), so I don’t believe it is the problem now.
I’ll leave the crash log files in the link below. Thanks!

I’ve had to restore the .LOD file once again and put it on the antivirus exclusion list.
For reference, if anyone is having the same issue, just restore any files from BMS folder your antivirus might have quarantined and put the whole folder in the exclusion list! -
Audio hooked up and working ok? I think that has been an unexpected source of crash-on-startup for some folks.
Also I’ve heard turning off the startup movie can avoid some problems, at startup.
set g_bPlayIntroMovie 0Great observation about antivirus quarantining… may or may not be cause of your problem, but there have been a lot of very weird bugs reported here that mysteriously go away on reinstall.
I guess I don’t understand what the heck is going on in the world of antivirus, where an LOD file can trigger a false positive. Not sure I want to know…

Several of my Wing-members also have Crash to Desktop (CTD) but the ones who don’t seem to all have the BMS 4.35 application folder added as an exclusion for their Virus Scanners. After the IVC started to be recognized by Windows Defender as a Virus I started excluding all of my BMS 4.34 and BMS 4.35 folders and don’t seem to have the CTD.
So maybe everyone can try to tell their Virus Scanner not to check BMS anymore and see if you still get these CTDs. This is only preliminary finding but it seems to prevent BMS crashes. -
Thanks. It does seems like the Antivirus was the issue.

Best not to use any form of AV mate. Sensible browsing with a good browser, some essential plugins and some common sense will spare you a lot of trouble (and of course using win10 for gaming only).
All the best & glad to hear you got it working!

Thanks! haha
I’m not a big fan on Antiviruses too, but McAfee had a pretty pretty good deal for a 1 year subscription + VPN, so I thought “why not?” xD
