Sunset questions to bms devs

So after pressing the set date button it’s calculated but not saved in twx file itself?
EDIT: nevermind, misread your sentence.

So after pressing the set date button it’s(sunset and sunrise values) calculated but not saved in twx file itself?
That would be great if it’s only the date that is read from twx and sunset and sunrise gets calculated whenever needed (in 3d or briefing etc)Cheers Obi1
?
I don’t understand what you mean. of course it is saved as soon as you save the TE.
Select a date … it will gives you the SR/SS of the day (in the middle of the map IIRC) … If you save your TE, the date will be saved also in the weather parameters. Nothing else to change. No need to make things complex here. -

No need to make things complex here.Sorry if it’s hard to follow, but what I mean is whether it’s just that ‘zulu date’ value that is actually saved in .twx. Or that the sunrise and sunset times are also stored in the .twx file.
Or they (sunrise time and sunset time) are not stored, but calculated every time it’s being used somewhere, using the zulu date. (like briefing, 3d or even in weather tab itself)Cheers Obi1

Don’t make things complicated.
You save a date … so you save a SR and a SS. Period. Nothing else to think about.

I found out by now, time is being calculated, case solved.

Sorry to jump into this thread, but I think it is related to an issue I have with Instant.cam and POH Theather.
My Instant.cam is at night at the default 12:00:00 Local Time.
I tried changing a few current times in MC on my Instant.cam from 1:00:00 (KTOs setup) to 12:00:00 and they all are at night.
I substituded my Instant.twx with KTOs, still at night.
I also substituded my custom Art folder to KTOs, and still at night…
My te_new.tac when going to TE Builder has 9:00 as ZULU and 18:00 as Local Time, and seems to work fine on the ZULU hours. If I setup a mission and ZULU daytime, they are portrayed as daytime.
My Dogfight furball is at night (12:00 LT), TEAM is at sunrise (14:00LT) and I guess Match is and dawn being at 13:00 LT
I would like to have my DEFAULT times for instant and dogfight at daytime…, specially doghfight since users can’t change this time.
Can this be done?

OK, I solved it.
I found the weather.ini and changed the TimeZone, Lat and Long data to POHs: TimeZone 1, Lat 36, Longitude -6
All the Dogfight modules and Instant.cam now have daytime as “default” time.
Now my TE Builders shows 9:00:00 as ZULU and 10:00:00 as Local Time, as it should since the center of the theater is in GMT+1

Hi BMS devs,
I was looking at the new zulu date and sunrise/sunset parts in the weather setup and twx file.
So you now have this date and you guys come up with a sunrise and sunset time.
How is this calculated, I mean you need a certain lat and long and timezone. But do you guys take a certain city location? Or perhaps just center of a map?
And timezone is taken from weather ini?I was just wondering how it all would work with 3rd party theaters that have different lat/lon and timezones
Also I would like to know if the sunset / sunrise values are actually saved and used from .twx file or that they are calculated by the code based on the zulu date only in twx?
Cheers Obi1
The last/long for UI is the center of the map (declared in the theater files and weather.ini)
Nothing is hardcoded it’s calculated from the date and the lay/long above from the date set up in UI . This date is saved in The weather files when you save the TE
However in game the sunset/sunrise depends on your real lat/long
The calculation algorithm used is valid for the next 2000 years
Same for moon positioning in the sky

BMS 4.35 U2
POH 0.8.4 TheaterWeather.ini:
Time Zone 1
Latitude 36
Longitude -6Config:
Set g_bLocalEnvironment/Date 1In summer at 17h30 and it´s already night !
How do I fix that ?Thanks !

As Mav-JP stated, in-game sunrise and sunset are linked to theater lat/long data.
POH does not have negative longitudes for the terrain, so the western border begins with longitude of 0°.
I was told by my vet partners that the engine can’t use negative values for lat/long coordiates…. Thus, creating this missmatch.
If you want to fix this for yourself I guess you could find out what longitude is set for the center of the theater and change the weather.ini with that longitude.
(That will, however, mess up with the local times/zulu times relation. I guess is a tradeoff. One or the other… i guess…)
Edit: Actually not true, relation is still correct as long as Timezone is correct, so, no tradeoff. Will give it a try myself, though.

Ok, I have checked actual lat/long of theater center for POH weather.ini:
Timezone 1
Latitude 34
Longitude 11This was my bad, because I used the real lat/longs instead of the terrain ones.
This wont change that sunset is (after changing weather.ini to that data) 18:46 lt , this will just show accurate sunrise/sunset times in the weather page.
One could set gmt +2 by changing the “Timezone” to “2”, which will make things more close to reality by delaying sunset to 19:45 lt, but would be quite unrealistic IMO considering that actually Maroc, Algeria and Spain, even though they are gmt+1, are inside what should be gmt.
@JetNoise2 , feel free to post any bug related stuff for POH in our corresponding subforum… I am afraid we are hijacking this thread for a third-party theater issue… and perhaps we shouldn’t. And I know I am more guilty than you on this, sorry everyone.

There is a reason why nobody use LT in aviation , that’s why BMS main time is Zulu now
