Solved VHF channel selection in F4 Phantom
-
Hi How can we cycle vhf channel numbers in phantom cockpit is there a key to do this? Uhf channel selection active but vhf is not

I hope that I am understanding you correctly. Here is my take on the subject.
The Comm 1 is for UHF and Comm 2 is for VHF.If you need to change a UHF frequency, press the F1 key and type the new channel number or frequency on your number pad and then press the ENTER key on the number pad.
For VHF channels press the F2 key and enter the frequency or channel on the number pad and then press the ENTER key on the number.
The frequencies are all five -digit numbers with no decimals.
This seems to work for me in all the different aircraft I fly.
I hope that this helps.

@musf I’m under the impression the F-4 doesn’t have a VHF radio. If you check the docs for the F-4 it only shows UHF switches.

i am using weapon delivery planner for dtc and i am choosing one com 2 vhf channel and i can only use that channel in mission. For example at the top of com 2 vhf row when i choose channel 8 (it is for tower) i can communicate with tower but i cant talk with my wingman or awacs and anywhere even though i save the other channels and frequencies in wdp.

@musf at a guess, that’s a “limitation” of WDP/BMS and the F-4 relying on the F-16 avionics. Reading http://www.f-4.nl/f4_11.html as an example, or the F4E manual here, it seems to me only later models of the F-4 got VHF radio.
Page 1-43 of the manual describes the AN/ASQ-19 as only operating on UHF.
So, I’m pretty sure the F-4 modelled in BMS does not have any VHF radios. Technically you shouldn’t be able to communicate on VHF at all, but because it’s using the F-16 avionics it will load the DTC and VHF preset, and that’s why you can use the VHF radio on the preset but not change it.

Ok thank you but one more thing if i can use only uhf then i can change channels uhf from cockpit. But when i enter all the comm channels uhf (tower dep arrival tactical awacs and my flight comm usualy channel 15 uhf) and when i enter cockpit i am loading dtc in mfd and only communicate with one channel that is at the top of the uhf channel .i cant take any response from other channels also in uhf. Only channel is is seems to working at the very top of the channel list (2 in my case because it is ground channel number to taxi)

Right of the COMM 1 section only one channel is active for me the other uhf channels under it dont work even though i save all of them and in the cockpit tries to change them
