Solved Lost ability to take screenshots in 3D
-
Hello,
I am unable to take screenshots with the PrtScr button on my keyboard. It has worked in the past. I suspected an nVidia overlay to conflict but disabling that did not help.
Does anyone have a suggestion on what to check or look for?
Thanks,

JayBHello!
Please see if this helps!!
Alt + Print Screen keys
When using the “Alt + Print Screen” command, a screen capture will be made only of the page that is active, disregarding the Windows Taskbar in the lower corner. The print will be stored in the Windows clipboard and can be pasted into an image editing software or another app using the command “Ctrl + V”.
Alt + D keys
The shortcut “Alt + D” is not activated when the keys are pressed, but with a delay of 1 to 5 seconds after the action. Thus, this alternative is ideal to take a screenshot of a later time, or to start recording the screen in Windows. -
@malpaso Thanks, I will try that later today. My goal is to return to be able to push the PrtScr button 5 times in-game and have 5 png files generated. But your suggestion can maybe shed some light on what is wrong right now
Edit: I tried it, Alt+PrtScr does not produce a screenshot either. I run Borderless Windowed (at full resolution for my center monitor).
In fact, Alt+PrtScr does not generate screenshots at all, not even for normal applications. Weird …

@jayb Running 4.35.3? Haven’t heard of any further problems.
Some things to try, to maybe workaround or narrow-down the problem…
set g_bPrettyScreenShot 0
in your cfg fileTry with sun visor up vs down? (this was a source of bugs, pre-U3)
Look for 0xB7 in your key file. (I think [PrtScn] key is hardcoded to activate screenshot in BMS… but I’m not sure what happens if you attempt to remap it to some other callback)

@airtex2019 Thanks, this is what my keyfile contains:
The pretty screenshot setting is set to 0.

ok, so now it is working, don’t really know why
What I did is I went into Settings-Ease of Access-Keyboard. Set PrintScreen to activate the snipping function. That made the snipping function screen overlay show upon pressing the PrtScr button. So far so good, but no use in BMS.
I then reversed that setting, back to what it was initially. And now screenshots work in BMS!
I hope it sticks, but I honestly do not understand the problem nor the cure.

@jayb is this Windows 11?
-
@airtex2019 no I am on W10. I tried the Keyboard setting thing since it turned out that my print screen did not work at all, not just in BMS.
-
Just an update - it has happened again from time to time. It turns out that leaving Citrix Workspace running on my system disabled my print screen key. Not just in BMS, in all of Windows.
For diagnostics, I used this page: https://keycode.info/
When functional, the print screen key would return 44. But when it had been disabled it showed 0 (zero). So I could follow along and see when the keycode went from 44 to zero and that way locate the issue

@jayb Anti Leakage policies from your company…

@maxwaldorf yeah, makes sense actually given how they enact policies
