GBU12
-
Hi guys,
I have a problem Im trying to drop GBU12, but… Radar on, Laser on, Laser code 1688 and switched to combat. Target found and locked. “L” on TGP is not flashing (or its flashing after laserlock- i tried both)… here we go. Loft round comes, flashing, vector straight on the dropline, everything looks good. Pickle button and waiting for drop…nothing… Im pretty sure there is something wrong on my SMS page. To be honest, i dont understand angle setup and its link to altitude Im able to fire mavs, drop all the other bombs, but this is like secret chamber to me. Thank you guys, sorry for english, im high AFedit: yes, master arm is ON. Im not a noob at all

@coral36 Yes sir

Probably you are not in correct release parameters for a GBU drop. This would be the only reason for the system not letting the weapon off the a/c.
Assuming that everything is set as you described and there is no “Over G” stress in pylons due to a abrupt maneuver, try to release a GBU straight and level over a target around 380-430kts and you should be fine! -
REL ANG has nothing to do with bomb release. It’s a tool for helping you gauge when to maneuver for a loft release. The same motions will release the bomb in the same way regardless of that setting. You can release a Paveway CCIP or DTOS or manual anyway just fine. Whatever gets it off the airplane in an armed state will allow it to guide.
Failure to release in CCRP is the same with any non-INS bomb. Paveway II or MK82 are the same except MK82 has more restriction on release for perfect aiming. The airplane will let the LGB go even with gross aiming errors. Do a practice mission with MK82 or similar. If you can drop a MK82 then you can drop a GBU-12. It works exactly the same.
Once the bomb (armed) is in the air it needs to see the correct laser energy to guide. This means the laser must be:
- Emitting from your airplane. Flashing “L” or “B” is the confirmation you want.
- TGP laser same code as the bomb. Don’t assume it’s 1688 or any other code. Look at the loadout page and see what the code actually is.
- TGP laser set for combat wavelength. By default the TGP uses the training wavelength. Change it. “TL” or “TB” means “T” for training. You want “L” or “B”.
*Bomb is pointed at the laser spot. When you release the bomb, press Shift-7 and watch from its point of view. If the bomb doesn’t point at where the laser is on the ground within about 20° then it won’t guide.
-
Not clear that this is your problem, but I found bomb release is more reliable if I’m pulling back slightly … about 1.1 G

@coral36 Yes sir
II know it was a dumb question, but better to start from easy things
-
Edit: Just saw that @Frederf had covered those things
-
@frederf thank you for answer sir.
“L” is flashing if I want
1688 is correct code for my laser
laser set to combat -
@ghostdog-0 Are you running the training mission for LGBs or is it another situation ?

Theater?
Acmi?
Video maybe? -
@jayb my own mission, but i found this (my own) issue in campaing

@ghostdog-0
Can you confirm that the pickle button is working (assigned) correctly?
I think, in the assignment window, there is a difference between “fire weapon” and “pickle button”.
If I remember correctly, I had the problem once with amraams.
Make sure your button is assigned to the line “STICK: WEAPON RELEASE (PICKLE)”. -
@amadeus75 everything is ok. i checked it twice. Pickle is on button 3, fire on button 1 , both works
-
@ghostdog-0 couple of things crossed my mind. 1. Flashing “L” occurs the few seconds prior to impact that is set in the DED. This is when the laser actually fires. 2. Try hitting the pickle about 5-3 seconds before the second countdown reaches zero as the cue falls the second time to the FPM. It wasn’t clear if you were holding pickle through the loft cue…

OK OK OK OK, i found this
Now i tried F16cm52 with an AN/AAQ33Sniper with GBU12 B/B/HE
and … Paveway! HOW??? So…i switched back to previous plane wich was F16c52+caf with AN/AAQ14LANTIRN and the same type of bombs. Same procedure but no release… Im confused. I also tried FA/18c Hornet with laser guided munition and everything works… So, can somebody try F16c52+caf in ITO with this setup? -
@quasi_stellar Yep, i know, thank You buddy.Now I droped bombs from another type of F16. Via comment below

So, now:
- What F-16 do you call F16c52+caf? There is nothing such in the list nor online.
- What about you try in KTO rather?
-
You will also need to change the A-G section from TRNG to CMBT for the laser to fire.

@suhkoi69 As he is talking about a flashing L he did change it
