Which "Click" on the throttle should I use for "Set Afterburner"?
-
Hi folks,
thread title says it all basically: Which “click” should I use for the Afterburner threshold when setting up the Cougar? The throttle has two distinct “Clicks” (three if you count “idle”), so I was wondering what the realistic settle is for engaging the afterburner… 2nd, middle between 2 and 3, or three?
Thanks in advance,
Uwe

Hi there,
I don’t know the realistic setting, but it makes sense to pick the first detent, because the whole range between idle and afterburner detents is required for precise operations. If you’re in a formation and you need to fly just a litte bit faster and the AB detent is in the way… guess you won’t like that.
BTW: I tweaked mine to increase the range betweend Idle and AB: http://cougar.flyfoxy.com/mods.php#detents. -
Well, the realistic way involves physically lifting the throttle up and pushing it up into the AB range. No click involved, just a mechanical action.
I personally use the second click - so that advancing the throttle from midrange, I get one click telling me I am at MIL, and a second click tells me I am in AB.
Ive also modified the position of the detents, such that the second click is very nearly at the end of the throttle travel (same for IDLE).
