MFDE error
-
I am also having a problem now with MFDE. I have a completely new PC and have loaded Win11 and BMS - literally nothing else at this point, just BMS. I grabbed my old MFDE folder from my previous PC (was running great on Win10), copied it to the new PC and fired up MFDE. Nothing.
Like @Icarus above, it shows in the task bar tray area but is unresponsive…mostly. I can right click the MFDE icon in the tray and it will display the mini menu (Start, Stop, Options) but then nothing. It looks like it is stopped because Stop is greyed out but clicking on Start or Options (so you can define gauges, etc.) doers nothing. My guess is there is some dependency missing but can’t figure it out.
Based on the experiences here, both with clean installs, I don’t think its an OS related issue…something is missing.

Is this happening with version 0.6.3.0 ?
-
@badger I believe so but how can I tell? When I right-click the exe and look at properties, under Details tab it says 0.6.3.0
EDIT:
Yes, it’s definitely 0.6.3.0…
-
And as you can see, the app is sort of active in that I can get this menu to display but it appears to be stopped and clicking , Start, Options and Exit all result in nothing. Only way to exit is to kill it in task mgr.

Since it is a spanking new install on a new OS, could MFDE be requiring some .NET version to be present ?

Great question - by default 4.8 is installed on Win11. It won’t let you install 4.7.2 which i do see referenced in some of the config files.
-
Right, one solution might be to rebuild MFDE based on 4.8 into a W11 compliant version.

Willing to try but would access to source and whatever open source (assuming) compiler is needed.
-
Yeah, I am not sure how to go about that, sorry. I suppose there is an official MFDE thread somewhere?

@jayb @Zeus @Icarus
I think @oakdesign made an updated build… see this threadhttps://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/20220/mfd-extractor-not-working/8?_=1642896447368

Problem exists with that version. The updated version. Not the other versions.

@icarus ~~- agreed, its that version that seems to be missing some supporting files at least on clean Windows 7 and Windows 11 installs.
Anyone have an older version that I could try?~~
CORRECTION:
I downloaded @oakdesign 's version and that seems to work. It’s still labeled 0.6.3.0 but it’s working! Thanks all! -

@icarus on Windows 7?
(a) confirm you have both SP1 and the post-SP1 “platform update” installed (needed for BMS and DX11)
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36805(b) confirm you have latest .NET Framework (4.7.2 or 4.8) installed

@airtex2019 Fully updated and it doesnt work on clean install Windows 10 either. I think it is because I have old video card with old drivers. Confirm on both.
