HELP! SpaceDesk + Helios stop working
-
I have 3 tablets connected to Helios using Spacedesk. Everything was working nicely until I updated SpaceDesk. Since then, I noticed a weird behavior:
- When Helios Control activates the profile (no BMS environment) all 3 tablets switches and button work fine (the touchscreen, really).
- When in BMS 2D, all the same. Everything works fine (BMS running windowed).
- BUT… When I go to BMS 3D, only one of the tablets works. The touch of the other two don’t activate the switches and buttons (they don’t move). What happens is that my touch only moves the cursor in the cockpit (like moving the mouse).
I have tried many different SpaceDesk configurations, with and without RTT, resolutions, mainly different input setups, etc…
I even don’t know in which source the problem is: BMS, Helios or Spacedesk…
If anybody has a suggestion, I am all ears.
cheers :yo:

On the tablet application make sure you go to settings and then Input devices. There you have to make sure that the “Touch input Type” is set to Absolute Touch. Any other option is gonna make the touchscreen behave like a big touchpad. Check the setting in all 3 tablets
If you have tried that already there is a helios profile setting in the profile editor that is called “focus assist” for falcon bms profiles. Check the box and save the profile.
Tell me if this helps

Tablets are set absolute touch already. I will try the focus assist thing. Will Be back.

Hi Chris
I did everything you suggested and the issue remains…
Any other hint perhaps?

I had a quite similar problem. In my case I used two phones as external monitors using Space Desk, then I made virtual cockpit on Helios having two MFDs one on the first external monitor and on the second monitor. The result was that even without starting BMS and running only Helios Control Center, the first monitor receives touches with a dot mouse pointer, whereas the second external monitor when I click on it the switches don’t respond and I see a full mouse pointer. I suspected the phones at the beginning but after few iterations I excluded that hypothesis. Then I suspected BMS and I was able to reproduce the same issue without having it running. Now I’m left with two hypothesis, either Helios is struggling with the Focus Assist option, or that Space Desk is messing things up when you increase the number of monitors. In order to actually test the last one about Space Desk, I would need two touchscreen HDMI monitor which I don’t have at the right moment.
Hopefully all of this mess would be fixed sooner in the upcoming updates.

Never had any issues and I run 2 HDMI touchscreens and 2 mobile devices as touch screen at the same time.
Have you run the windows calibrate the screen for pen or touch input
and run the setup and tell windows which of your screens should be treated as touch input devices?
just follow the onscreen manual

EDIT: I don’t have this option in My Windows 10. I updated the SpaceDesk. Lets see…

@sasah320 how did you get on? I have this exact issue.
-
@criticalmass I just gave up and I adjusted my front monitors (the ones with the MFD’s) to show information only, so I don’t need to interact with them. The only monitor I use switches is my 10’ Tablet where I use to Ramp Start so I keep just one monitor with the touch enabled.

Thanks for the response.
Well, that’s a shame, I just find a 10" monitor too small. I’m sure there’s an obvious solution

@criticalmass I adjusted my monitors mainly to Ramp Start. Most of times I use the keyboard to select things commonly used during flights (ICP, Master ARM, Laser, RWR, etc…).
This is my “Ramp Start” profile in a 10" Tablet:
This is my right MFD profile ( the black strip is where the Cougar’s MFD frames fits)
This is the left one:
They work just fine and fulfill my needs.
