Hi, my Cougar is not seen by Hotas Cougar Panel anymore, se picture. Have moved to other USB’s, but no luck. Anyone have a workaround?

This happens to me if it is not plugged into motherboard USB port.

-

Try to update the Cougar firmware. From Foxy, click on Cougar > Flash Upgrade and follow instructions. I’ve experienced this issue couple of time and solved.

Hello my friend
Please hold the gun triger , unplug the HOTAS , hold the triger again plug it . ( via foxy or hotas cougar filmware update tool-http://cougar.flyfoxy.com/foxyflash.php)

This reset the filmware , then update the fimware with only the Stick connected , follow the updates steps , reconnect the throttle , recallibrate

Save your start up profile , restart pc

Kind Regards

@MLU
IMHO flashing the Cougar should be the very last thing to try.

Maybe try this before:

disconnect your Cougar from USB

disconnect everything else from USB you don’t need, like TIR, MFDs, etc. (keep mouse/keyboard only)

reboot PC

back on desktop, plug in your Cougar and check if it’s detected now

if yes, reboot with Cougar still connected

then plug in your other USB devices

;)
Cheers,
LS

my cougar have same problem…
one day, I use USB hub connect my cougar and it’ s work.

-

@MLU For your throttle this will make all your problems go away. I have one and know several others who use this product and we all love it.
https://realsimulator.com/tusba/

-

@MLU btw, think that this issue is due to antivirus and/or windows firewall. I solved once created new rules on that progs.

-

@MLU make sure windows hasn’t turned off the usb port to save power.
you can also use usbdeview from nirsoft.net to remove all instances of the cougar from the usb devices.
finally, as others have said, reflash the firmware in the joystick

-

@Coral36 I get this message when trying to upgrade firmware? Been holding the trigger to remove

@Draft ; I have the TUSBA and will install it when I get my stick working again.

-

Well, tried all options, hints and trix, but no Cougar stick coming up for firmware update. I think my Cougar motherboard has left me, RIP, my computer and USB overview tells me so. But, lucky me, I have 2 sets of Cougars, so still operational. Thanks everybody for helping out.

Hi, my Cougar is not seen by Hotas Cougar Panel anymore, se picture. Have moved to other USB’s, but no luck. Anyone have a workaround?

@MLU; Did you solve the problem…?

-

Well warthog base and TUSBA to the rescue, or even maybe full force-sensing base if money is less of a problem

-

@MLU get rid of the base of that thing & the software that comes with it, it’s all outdated. Go with reasimulator+TUSBA replacement.

-

@Coral36 , no, it is not detected by Win10 anymore.

-

@Alfred . I am on it yes, Realsim will get an order… checking with my bank, ehhh wife.

-

That is a very classic cougar problem

got that all the time , cougar electronics is a piece of shit

normally changing of USB port is sufficient but if this is not you need to clean entirely all your USB ports from Hotas reference before reconnecting

no, it is not detected by Win10 anymore.

@MLU
I’ve solved with the following procedure: Assuming that your USB ports works correctly,
1) Disconnect the Cougar from the computer then disconnect the throttle and the rudders (if you have…) from the joystick unit.
2) Reconnect the Joystick to the computer, PRESSING THE MAIN TRIGGER FULLY AND HOLDING IT FOR 5 sec once connected.
3) Launch the Firmware update application (Start > Programs > Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar >Hotas Cougar update)
4) Follow the on screen instructions. Once this is done, launch the Hotas Cougar Control Panel (CCP). You will get a message saying that there was no TMC profile detected in the Hotas Cougar and that the default profile will be downloaded to the device.
5) Once done, close the Hotas Cougar Control panel, disconnect the joystick from the computer. Reconnect the throttle, rudders (again if you have rudder pedals) and then the Hotas Cougar to the computer.
