AG mode against an Infantry battalion.

Hello Forum
A previous post refers to using the Rockeye against an Inf Batt.
Is that the best weapon to deploy?Thanks,
Bayonet.

@bayonet
It’s currently the most effective weapons at hand, please give a look to its characteristics at the Tactical Reference/Bombs IIRC.With best regards.

@bayonet The mk-20 is a versatile weapon, but engaging an infantry battalion with it would be suicidal because of the manpads…

Unguided? Yeah, with CBU-87. Against moving infantry? Not sure you’ll hit. Stay away from the SHORAD and ManPAD, dive bombing and early pull-up.

@Foxtrot701 Yes dodgy, it’s nice to go home for tea and medals.

@Bayonet As I understand it, the Maximum Release Altitude for the CBU 87 is 530ft. A little too low for comfort.

Stay away from SHORAD and ManPADs means above 14,000 ft, so if I’m telling you mk20 or cbu87, I’m telling you that you drop them from above.
If you showed that source than contains such a non sense as this low altitude, we could take some pleasure with it.

True and agreeded on what Lorik stated.

But also a very fast (and I mean here: fast, the like you can do only with a Tornado or an EFA/Typhoon at full AB, though) low-level altitude or a pop-up attack could be good - all will depend from the tactical, geographical (kind of terrain, I mean) and metorological situations in one, it’s my best guess.

With best regards.

My question is how do you even find those infantry battalions? <img src=“/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f601.png?v=kcklbnj8rj8” alt=“” class=“not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji–grin” />

@Guard_85

FCR

-

@LorikEolmin you can detect true light infantry with no vehicles attached with the FCR? I can find them with the TGP randomly sometimes but it’s hard with the soda straw view finding where I’m at in the column to know if I’m efficiently deliver muntions.

@Snake122
Yes, if you are close enough, they sometimes make tiny dots in GMT mode.
Especially when they seem to “run on the spot”.
The downside is… they are really standing quite far apart between each other.
Even if you drop a GBU-12 on one infanterist’s head, his neighbour will remain quite unimpressed.
