Topping off at tanker without screwing up TOT?
-
1st. unlock all stps except stp 1. add a steerpoint where you plan on tanking. change action of stp to refuel and set patrol time to 10 or 15 mins or whatever you want. and thats it. it will adjust all stps except take off. now if you wanted to keep TOT (time on target) then you would unlock all stps except tartget stp and do the same. I would recommend creating the stp after your push stp (which normally is 2). The key for you not to screw up your stp times is to unlock all but the one you want to keep at the same time.

Try taking extra fuel, or refuel on the way home. Or refuel and burn all tha( fuel you just got on trying to catch up.
Not helpful when you’re flying out of Haeju. I flew out to Hamhung and spent so much gas stiff-arming enemy fighters and waiting for my target (SA-2) to go active I made it back with about 2500lbs of fuel left. 63nm out from home plate, I called vector to tanker and the nearest tanker was 108nm away! Most of the tankers in Tiger Spirit hover around Haeju and the DMZ, making them useless for anything other than topping off.

It is VERY simple.
Keep Push and TOT locked (those are mandatory if you are working in Package or COMAO… unless, change the entire Package TOT) and unlock Take Off time.
Create a new WPT2 and set it as “Refuel” point. Set around 5 to 15 min “time on station” depending on how many ship in your flight, and your rejoin/refuel skills.
You may also save time by taking earlier than scheduled by flight pan. (If you can startup and be airborne in less than 20min)
… That’s all.
-
Aha, so it will automatically adjust T/O time.
Speaking of the skill level, if you set pilot skill level under the Teams section to ace, then create a package with a skill level of rookie, which will it be? Ace or rookie?

Don’t know?

I have the same question. Don’t think the skill selection @ add package window does anything but I always set it to ace just to be safe…
-
Ace? I set everything to cadet or less to be safe  I get my butt served on a silver platter if it’s veteran or above.

Quit being a WIMP, put it on Rookie Challenge level, everything’s even up there!!!
You’ll be fine.

Well, I created that steerpoint and set to refuel, 20 minute patrol time. Tanker refused to refuel me. I got right behind him, requested fuel multiple times and all he would say is “unable” :???:

I meant the settings in add package window. But plz man get unsuck, quick!

Was your AWACS “on Station”?
Send me the TE… I will have a look.
-
It’s a campaign….so not sure about sending you the file. AWACs was on station. Called for vectors to tanker and picture multiple times. Tanker was also on station, but refused to give me fuel.
STPT 9 was already a refueling STPT; is it possible that by creating a 2nd refueling STPT at STPT 2 it mucked things up?
-
Which flights waypoint did you alter?
RAM22
-
STPT 9 (refuel) already existed NNW of Haeju. I clicked on the square that was between Haeju and STPT 2, dragged it over next to STPT 9, and it thus became STPT 2 (original STPT 2 became STPT 3). Set new STPT 2 to “refuel” with 20 minute patrol time.
Push point and TOT were locked and didn’t change. T/O time moved earlier by about 20 minutes.
-
The tankers waypoints?
RAM22
-
STPT 3 was originally STPT 2, the push point. The new STPT 2 is the one I created as a refueling point with a 20 minute patrol time.
The black flightplan is the ATO-generated tanker track. The STPT marked “TANKER” is an ATO-generated refuel STPT to hit while RTB–which is pointless considering it’s right next to home plate.
Is it possible that having two refuel STPTs messed it up? That’s the only thing that I can think of, because the tanker was on station.

im having trouble getting package times down for tanking/ if im strike and set patrol times and tank times in order of package as in sead tanks and rolls off to next sp then escort same then my strike element… but by the time my strike rolls out the other elements seem to be further than planned and i cant burn fast enough to catch back up to steer time… my refuel skill has gotten a lot better, only need the one connect unless enters turn but i usually set a longer leg for fuel. i would lie package to keep spacing the same before and after tanking so that we all arrive on target with about a 1.5-2 min seperation so that entire package is in and oud in about 4 min or so…not my sead then 3 min later my escort and my number 4 is just coming off boom… sometimes i loose package elements on datalink by the time my flight is done and i know i didnt plan thi timing like that because i checked an double checked the fuel times and tot’s… only other thing i can try is to set EVERY single steer or set the other two elements maybe to patrol at the next steer after tanking for about ten minutes( like a CAP or something) and meet them there ad wait until they roll to target andfollow in my own time?
can somebody maybe make a vid showing how to set entire package to roll smoothly spaced.
p.s.
i know that the ai doesnt take quite as long to fuel as human bu i wouldnt think that would matter -
If you tasked the entire package yourself, set the push point to be after tanking if you want the whole package to refuel then meet up.
If you didn’t task the whole package and want to refuel your aircraft before meeting up with the package, then just add a refuel steer point before the push point for your flight.
-
i set the entire package myself and set them all to refuel…does the ai circle a push point until timing is right or just fly right through?

i know that the ai doesnt take quite as long to fuel as human bu i wouldnt think that would matterPlan at least 20min refuel time for each 4ship flights. If possible, plan one Tanker per flight / package (at least 20Nm spaced each other).
Plan the timings you need for all flights before AAR, then, add a point for each flight about 10 to 20Nm from Push which wil act as a holding point. Re-synchronize all flights / package at Push point.
Maybe this vid could help (?) (single flight on this vid)
