Solved Terrain flickering all the time
-

Do you see the same behavior in other games or exclusively in BMS? Can you run furmark to see how your GPU behaves?

-

@TigerShark
I only see this in BMS.
I have no issue with DCS or other apps.
FPS, according to falcon is around 120-130.
Nvidia control is normal

-

@janjan Some old threads on flickering suggest to Alt-tab out of BMS and then Alt-tab back in as a workaround. There is also this universal advice, which you may check: In the BMS shortcut on compatibility tab select Disable full-screen optimisations

-

@jayb Thanks
Disable full-screen optimizations was already suggested and I tried it - did not help.
I have 2 monitors and I frequently use ALT+Tab.
I may try to reinstall BMS and see what happens but I think this is not related to the game installations. Must be something on my system

-

@janjan I lost track if you already tried this, but reverting back to an older Nvidia driver (from ca. 2021-Q4) is something I might try.

https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us#

Iirc the 472.xx versions were fairly stable. I’d select the latest “studio” driver from that vintage.

Be sure to select “Perform a clean installation” during install… that will reset all your 3D settings to default.

Dude…? Have you reinstalled BMS (as somebody suggested earlier)…?

Between “flickers”, that terrain is completely borked. What theatre is that…? ITO…?

-

@Aragorn Haven’t reinstalled BMS yet.
It happens on all theaters

-

@janjan I’d definitely try a BMS re-install if everything else has failed so far.

@Aragorn Haven’t reinstalled BMS yet.
It happens on all theaters

What I would do as it only happens in BMS and you have a clean NVidia install it has to be something in your BMS install. Save your Logbook (your nickname.lbk) and Phonebook (only if you fly online, it’s phonebkn.ini), and run the Setup.exe in x:\Falcon BMS 4.35 Setup for a complete uninstall. Place the 3 Incremental exe files in the x:\Falcon BMS 4.35 Setup folder if not already there, run Setup.exe again and it should give you a clean 4.35.3 installation. I took a screenshot of my C:\Falcon BMS 4.35 Setup folder in case you were not familiar with it. I would just set up graphics and simple controllers and jump into Instant Action (assume IA ground is porked also) to see if this solved the issue.

@Paullus

Glad to be of assistance, enjoy guys!

@Alfred I have this as well. Anybody any idea what could cause it? It’s not super annoying so can live with.
