BMS 4.36 - will it require theater changes?
-

@MaxWaldorf

As I Propose several times before, it would be a enormous help to share after release the key points of DB changes. (not the resumed DB key points on the download release but a more deep explanation (files, folders and entry changes))

Several theaters have in their Dev. structure , some BMS devs. , so i understand and its natural that only after 24 / 48h after BMS release the theater is released as well.

I am on the POH Dev. team, and right now the team is reduced to a minimum. It take us lot of months after BMS release to put all together since we have literally to go file by file to see the changes and make them.

Please access and think on my request as i deeply hope to have POH ready to release as soon as possible after BMS 4.36

Thank you very much <img src=“/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f60a.png?v=1g16vn91q2r” alt=“” class=“not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji–blush” />

We will publish a changelog with the release but we are not in a position to list all the changes from the database perspective.

We can’t list 3 years of work so easily…

Does that mean that once 4.37 comes out, the 3rd-party theaters will need to be redone from scratch due to the terrain changes?

@justonce01 There won’t be any compatibility for 4.37 theaters…
Everything will be started from stratch for 3rd parties but don’t worry, we’ll come up with a couple updates from existing theaters maintained by BMS team…

Analyzing the changes between Falcon versions are also very important for me.
I usually use the Eclipse IDE for this.
It provides a mechanism to compare two folders (e.g. BMS 4.35 U1 and BMS 4.35 U2) with each other. This way I can see what files have been changed, added and removed. Changes in individual files are highlighted for me, so I won’t miss a single change.

See for example: Compare two workspace or external files in Eclipse | Eclipse On E (eclipseonetips.com)

Of course there are other tools, but I just wanted to point you to it.

Maybe that helps a bit.

Cheers,
SP

Hi, Icer. The good news is that the Balkans gang usually gets it out quick. Plus, the Other Theater Devs are, I believe, already doing things “behind the scenes” to get ready.
Also, if I may expand your thread a bit, I can tell you the Hornet should be good to go, based on the fact we don’t think there are any LOD changes and that the Dev’s have put the cockpit files in.

@Sneakpeek
That’s really helpful SP, I am often looking for tools like that. Do you have a source for help on how to compare two directories using it? Eg, instead of choosing two particular ‘external files’, do I choose two particular ‘external folders’?
