Solved MSL Step, Sumbmodes not Working on HOTAS COUGAR (NWS Button)
-

@FireWind you may have to provide some explicit detail to explain what you’re doing, and what you’re expecting to happen

There is only one “callback” in BMS terminology for that button, it’s ‘SimMissileStep’ … it performs a variety of different functions, as you note, based on context – it toggles NWS off/on when on the ground. in AA modes and some AG submodes, it selects the next missile station for the selected type … in AG bombing submodes it cycles among ccrp/ccip/dtos submodes

But I can’t think of any way it would work on the ground but not in the air – at least, not related to your Cougar hotas bindings. <img src=“/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f937.png?v=gcfd8gb1ch8” alt=“” class=“not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji–shrug” />

@FireWind try opening the refuel for while flying or on the ground and then press the Msl Step button that you mention, it should light up the disconect DISC on the right indexer for a few seconds below the air refuel light on the same indexer. If that happens it works just fine, just like @airtex2019 said it does different things depending on the aircraft setup.

@airtex2019 On the ground, when I press it, toggles NWS on or off. Perfect! But in the air, and while on A/A or A/G mode, when pressed it doesn’t switch between the various submodes… So I am wondering if there is a bug with my HOTAS… Forgot to mention that I am mostly using HAF F-16’s, cause I am Greek and I love them! <img src=“/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f601.png?v=gcfd8gb1ch8” alt=“” class=“not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji–grin” /> <img src=“/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f600.png?v=gcfd8gb1ch8” alt=“” class=“not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji–grinning” /> <img src=“/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f601.png?v=gcfd8gb1ch8” alt=“” class=“not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji–grin” />

@FireWind What is your aircrafts loadout?

-

@FireWind What do you mean by submodes? are you referring to CCIP>CCRP>DTOS OR missile types (A/G); stations/missile types (A/A) (which are not technically submodes)

or are you trying to change submodes for Maverick (PRE>VIS>BORE) or BORE/SLAV for AA missiles?

As with most issue/bug tracking, it’s often good to describe the scenario you are “expecting”.

@FireWind does the relevant keyboard press work as intended? Shift + /

I am mostly using HAF F-16’s, cause I am Greek and I love them!

It’s so cool to have Gus G. flying BMS with us…

-

@CriticalMass Yoy are right! I mean CCIP, CCRP etc… Sorry for not describing it properly! I am very new to all of this! Thank you for your help!

-

@danaos75 I will check it out!

-

@Quasi_Stellar Laughed so hard on your comment! Heavy metal greetings, brother! Wish I were Gus G!

@WurminatorZA Usually I fly with 3 external tanks, Amraams and Sidewinders. Sometimes with A/G bombs…

-

@FireWind It only works shifting for A/G modes: CCIP, CCRP etc… on A/A it only changes the pylons from where the missile will be shot…

@FireWind It only works shifting for A/G modes: CCIP, CCRP etc… on A/A it only changes the pylons from where the missile will be shot…

And this is how it is supposed to be…

-

@FireWind What else are you expecting?

If you want to change the active missile type (eg. sidewinder to amraam) you can long-press the MSL Step button.

I think that only works in AA modes… For AG, I think you have to use the SMS page.

-

Refer to TO-BMS1F-16CM-34-1-1 in BMS Document folder, pages 18-21, you will find schematics telling you what button on the HOTAS will do what depending on the master mode the F16 is currently in.

-

@airtex2019 It also works for A/G just by hitting the MSL Step… I reset the configuration and re-edited and now works like charm… <img src=“/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f644.png?v=gcfd8gb1ch8” alt=“” class=“not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji–face_with_rolling_eyes” />
