Solved VR IN BMS

<p>@smk111 4.37 most likely. So it’ll be a while unfortunately. </p>

<p>@SOBO-87 Damn </p>

<p>Again the same question…<br /><br />Apparently, posting roadmaps in team news doesn’t prevent people from asking over and over …<br /><br />Use the search function!!!</p>

Dear @MaxWaldorf and @Everyone,
I am a virtual pilot using Falcon since Falcon 3 came out…that is over 25 if not 30 year ago!!! But my flight simulation experience has shifted since the introduction of modern VR has become available. My head has seriously been in VR for about a year now with DCS and I have no turning back to TrackIR flying…I can’t stand it anymore!!!
Sorry but I am now ticked OFF BMS because of lack of VR support. VR is here, it works and it is a game changer for general fight simulation gaming.
BMS 4.36 does not support VR…OK, well I won’t install it. No point getting more of the same thing without addressing VR capabilities.
In the hope that VR will become, some day, a reality in BMS, I will skip 4.36 and wait for BMS 4.37 or until some future version does support VR.
I still think BMS is great and I am sure that v4.36 will be a cool upgrade over v4.35u3. But for me, no VR in BMS = no BMS. VR is the NOW and the future of flight simulation. I am not the 1st one to say this, just look around, try it, do your research!!!
Wishing you the best of fun with your BMS4.36 journeys. In the mean time, my head will be somewhere else…
Everest…Out!

Expect they will be most grateful for your ill informed rant
Been using VR for years but still like the monitor - guess I don’t have VR headsets to sell or something.

I suppose lots of simpits will need to be modified for use with VR. It’s just still so much easier to have a touchscreen/button ICP and MFD right in front of the pilot.

Hi @101-Everest ,
first of all, sorry you are wrong. VR is like 10%15% of the community at most. It is surely a noisy community. But far from majority. And I’m not sure how these numbers are for BMS: you know, our focus is very different from the casual gameplayers. And I can tell you a lot of players who have used VR once or twice and never again. Including myself (not for Falcon though).
Now, in terms of priority, I’d rather focus on stuff that everyone can enjoy (such as terrain, avionics, AI etc than VR). Not that I don’t consider VR, but it is very far from my top of priorities.
We have at least one coder that is very interested in VR, and I would do it for him, since he is the most passionate Falconeer I know. But unfortunately, I don’t understand anything about this and guess what? I don’t have VR. My BMS does not even start VR code so I can start debugging anything.
Having said all that, the person that was doing great progress in our VR is MIA, not sure if he will come back. So, sorry, no VR in the foreseeable future.
Now, I seriously doubt you VRers who claim you will come back to BMS after we add it will really do. You all get used to a very immersive DCS experience. Our graphics is very far from that, and when you come back, you will have a feeling like: well, that is not how I remember BMS to be. But this is something we will never know for sure.

Really throwing a fit that a completely free (and as accurate as possible) sim developed by some people that are doing it just because they want and like it and expect nothing in return from it doesn’t have something that not even that many people have or can afford or their PCs can handle.
Boohoo, everybody will certainly miss you and your carefully crafted and 100% valid criticism.
The BMS team has done amazing things in their free time, for free, available for everyone and you cry for the lack of VR on a mod turned game that is based on a game from 1998. You come here and cry about it and compare it to some mediocre paywall-filled game that has nothing other than amazing graphics at a shitty performance even if you have an RTX 3080/3090.
Just go and pay $80 to fly a buggy early access F-16 module, that will certainly show them (the BMS team).

Where is a giant yawn emoji when you need it. As Max said search function will yield the answer. And it’s not “BMS isn’t working it” as the hoggit crowd want the world to believe.

It’s just still so much easier to have a touchscreen/button ICP and MFD right in front of the pilot.
I’ve been using VR with Point CTRL finger trackers to interact with MFDs and ICP in DCS with zero problems. A lot of the supposed “problems” with VR have already been solved. I don’t need or want a physical cockpit (beyond the HOTAS), when I can interact with the virtual cockpit directly in 3D.

I disagree, VR is not about graphics, it’s the difference from looking at a screen and being “IN” a world. The graphics don’t need to be photo realistic to make it feel very convincingly as if you’re there, it’s the shape and scale of objects, the 3D and the 1-1 head tracking that sells it to the brain.
This makes the fidelity of BMS graphics frankly irrelevant to the VR discussion. Its the same as saying “why do you bother flying BMS in the first place when DCS is so pretty?” Anybody who knows BMS knows the answer to that - it’s not about the graphics.
But flying on a screen after years of flying VR in other sims feels like watching a sport rather than playing it. You feel detached by another layer from the action. I hope one day VR comes to BMS, it is my dream but I guess it will be a long time yet

Lol instantly getting my posts downvoted because I’d like to see VR in BMS… love this community sometimes.

I’ve actually done exactly that. Came back to BMS and stopped using VR to fly BMS. Although as you can see in some of the other threads I have attempted VR work around, Vorpx being the best and very stable in the 3d world but UI causes crashes.
I actually think BMS would be a better VR sim than DCS. DCS you lose a bunch of eye candy going to VR. BMS VR looks exactly the same in my Pimax 8K as my 4K TV and runs much smoother than DCS VR or monitor.

Yeah, chill out dude, not helping the case.

I don’t know why this post got so many down votes. It is true. PointCtrl is a game change for VR and makes a 3d cockpit feel very immersive and works very simply as mouse emulation. And I have an ICP and MFDs. PointCtrl and VR makes me not miss my old simpit.
