Solved RTTConfig and 4.36
-
Hi,
I made the following post a couple of days ago in Tools&Apps but got no responses. I reinstalled 4.35 and the App worked perfectly, so I’m guessing that its built specifically for that version?
***"Hi,
Has anyone got RTTConfig to work with 4.36? I can’t seem to be able to point it to the right folder and keep getting an error.
Fortunately I had saved the old 4.35 RTTClient.ini so I could manually input the MFD coordinates, but it would be great to have the tool available to carry out any tweaks or repositioning.
Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated.Regards
Dram."***Has anyone found a way to point it at 4.36?

RTT works for me in 4.36 just like it did in 4.35. Did you change set g_BexportRTTTtextures to 1 in Falcon BMS.cfg file or better yet make a Falcon BMS User.cfg file with your personal settings in there?

Hi TeeSquare,
Thanks for the response and yes I do Have the following placed in my User.cfg file:-set g_bExportRTTTextures 1
set g_nRTTExportBatchSize 1Do you still have 4.35 installed as well? I have a feeling that may make the difference as I have uninstalled mine.
Kind Regards

@Dram Due to a DX11 limitation the minimum setting g_nRTTExportBatchSize is 2.

Hi,
Thanks for that. Would having it set to 1 stop the RTTConfig app from working, because its the same settings that I had in 4.35 and it worked fine? Also the RTTClient.ini extracts the MFDs perfectly in 4.36. I can’t remember where I got the info to set it to 1. Perhaps it was from when I used the MFDE programme prior to RTTConfig.Should I delete set g_nRTTExportBatchSize 1 from user.cfg or does the programme just ignore it?

@Dram From the ReadMe.txt:
For the "batch size", think of this as a "divider" of your BMS screen FPS when exporting RTT. So if you run e.g. BMS at 60 FPS, a batch size of 2 will export RTT at 60/2 = 30 FPS. As a rule of thumb, you want RTT export FPS to be in the 20 to 40 FPS area. Hence, if your BMS FPS is low to begin with, keep it at the minimum (1 for 4.34, 2 for 4.35+). If your BMS FPS is very high (90+), set the batch size to 3 and so on. **Note that with DX11 in BMS 4.35, due to the new rendering implementation, is technically not possible to export every frame, hence the enforced minimum (and default) here is now 2:** set g_nRTTExportBatchSize 2 Note that unnecessary low batch size values might add CPU/GPU load, depending on your system hardware.

Hi Kolbe-49th
Very many thanks for that explanation. I very much appreciate it. I will delete the line from User.cfg to allow the default cfg setting to run.Kind Regards

Hi,
In regards to using the RTTConfig App with BMS 4.36, I have given up, as presumably it was designed to be used with 4.35 only. All was not lost however as I had a saved copy of the RTTClient.ini from 4.35 which I copied over to 4.36 and it worked perfectly.
My problem is that I have changed to a new additional external monitor arrangement and the old RTTClient was no longer relevant. I was faced with the hassle of experimenting with the rather convoluted MFD positioning protocol used by BMS with some dread. I then remembered that I still had the BMS 4.35 Setup folder resting in my backup drive, so I merely installed 4.35 on my “D” drive.
The RTTConfig App on my “C” drive automatically found 4.35 on the “D” when I fired it up much to my relief and using its quick and easy tools, I can now create new RTTClient.ini files which I can copy and paste to 4.36.
I hope this might be useful to those members who find themselves in the same situation in the future.
Regards

To all repliers, he’s talking about RTTConfig from the topic title, third party software. Not updated for 4.36.
