UI Output File
-
I have a new Win 11 desktop with a GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card.
I just installed 4.36. Have not played in awhile. In set up I see my graphics card listed and I have changed my resolution to 1920x1080. I notice however the category listed as Output file has only the 1 setting and it is \.\Display9 1024x768 0 0 1024 768
I launched a quick play and it seems to me that the resolution is not as crisp as I remember it being. Is the output setting overriding the resolution I put in? I’m not sure what it means frankly, nor how I would change it anyways.
can someone give an idea of how this works as compared to the resolution setting?
thank you for any assistance you can offer.

@sortofred try setting fullscreen then go back to borderless windowed This should solve the problem.

@sortofred Recommend you stay in borderless mode. It’s much more reliable, and just as performant, on latest Win10-11.
With ‘borderless’ the resolution and frame rate will be whatever your native Windows desktop resolution and frame rate … the “Resolution” dropdown won’t have any effect.
The “Output” dropdown indicates which monitor will be targetted (for multi-mon systems).
Don’t fret it says 1024x768, that’s the resolution of the 2D menu screen, it’s hardcoded to that.
But if you switch to ‘borderless’ and close and restart BMS, it should indicate the current desktop resolution (1920x1080)… I think.

Thank you -
I just changed the graphics to borderless, but when I run BMS it starts and stays in a smaller window. Is there a way to keep the borderless setting but have it go full screen upon start up?

@sortofred Yes select the right screen resolution in BMS settings in game

@sortofred You’re referring to the 2D window? It will always be 1024x768 … yes in borderless mode it’s not stretched to fill the screen.
You can hit [alt+Enter] to toggle to fullscreen, which (depending on your nvidia graphics settings, and your monitor behavior) it will then stretch to fill the screen.
Then [alt+Enter] again to switch back to borderless mode, before launching into 3D.
This doesn’t work reliably for all systems … 4k and higher displays, and/or Windows dpi scaling >100%.
For 1080p, I probably wouldn’t bother… just hit [ctrl+Enter] to show the draggable window border – then drag the 2D window to the center of you screen.
