astronomical values in time to steerpoint and distance
-
I was on training mission no.14 and after calibrating the Mav using the frigate as a target, I reset the SOI by TMS down and cursor zero.
For some reason, the hud does not display the distance to the next steerpoint and in TGP the time to steerpoint goes astronomically large…
Usually this occurs when you freeze but this is not frozen… Am I missing some config?

@gabrielwong1991 Don’t know much about the AGM-65L and why its HUD symbology differs from the D/G, but I will do my best to describe what you are seeing.
On the HUD, 235057 is your ETA (23:50:57)
Below that is you bearing (00) and range (0002).
On the TGP, the first 4 digits are you laser code (1688). The following digits are your time to go (000:24). Of course, there should be a space between them, and the laser code font size should be smaller. -
@Leech hi leech thanks for your explanation I get it now… how do I get the range to steer point instead of ETA? Like B002.4 something like that?
Thanks
-
Also anyone tried mission 14? I have trouble targeting the first AAA that everything goes so quickly and hard… countless of restarts with only one success… like you can only see the target in TGP very close at 8nm. Then you need to Point track and test the laser to see whether the cursor in AGM65L is in keyhole or not… using TFR to pickle at 1000ft you always sees it hit short of the target (manually do the laser already)… don’t know what went wrong

You need to leave A-G mode (press it again) to return to NAV mode. If you choose to remain in A-G mode, the HSI can tell you the distance (when set to NAV)

@gabrielwong1991 below the time that you have on the red Square on your HUD, is the relative bearing and range to the SPI. 00 0002 under 10 degrees at 2nm.
Edit: I just saw that @Leech already explained that above.

@gabrielwong1991 I strongly recommend trying the mission with freeze mode on for practice. When you get familiar with setting up the attack you can try at real time.
-
@danaos75 ah, guess I need to read dash34 again
-
@danaos75 let me ask you this, since the elevation from the plane to the AAA target is very low, when point tracking on TGP there will always be some trees in front. The point track clearly snaps to the AAA, will the trees block the laser to the vehicle? I always hit short of the target…
Or are trees hollow object in BMS? -
@gabrielwong1991 I will let someone with more experience answer you that. I am only involved in the sim for a couple of months. BUT on the old mav training mission (4.35). I played the mission with no trees due too my low end pc, and I always had trouble locking on the AAA at low altitude. I had to go higher to properly lock on the AAA.

@gabrielwong1991 Slant range should be displayed. This is an error from our behalf.

@Leech Hi Leech thanks for your help! I have another question…
When I use the FCR to locate a target, use MARK to make steer point, upon entering MARK and designate TMS UP the FCR doesn’t scan horizontally anymore until I restart the FCR by using TEST page… Any ideas?
-
@gabrielwong1991 What type of MARK ?
-
@gabrielwong1991 Hang on… Could you please take a photo of your FCR when you select ICP 7 ? It should be in AGR mode. (hint hint)
-
Think I know what happened now… I was in training mission 15 for the IAM bombs and was told to mark the target using MARK in UFC.
Turns out I need to:
- Acquire the target first in FCR (TMS up)
- Click on MARK and it should be on (FCR) mode and TMS up again to create steerpoint 26.
My problem is I missed step 1 and when clicking MARK on UFC it will be on HUD mode… Even if you cycle to FCR mode (MARK page in DED) the FCR itself will not scan horizontally and froze… So either I need to exit A-G mode or use TEST in MFD to restart FCR…
I wondered why because it happened one time where I was on a dive and the FCR also froze, not scanning horizontally.
You see it freeze on horizontal scanning (I tried clicking standby and back to GM it just won’t scan):

@gabrielwong1991 Hmm… Cant replicate. Could you please share a video ? Cheers!
-
@Leech this is the video, not sure if it is a feature
-
-
@gabrielwong1991 Thanks for the video. That clears things up.
Its a bug. Its related to IAM weapons. I was testing with conventional bombs and GBUs, so that’s why I could not replicate your problem. Good catch!! -
@Leech thanks hopefully it is an easy fix!
