@chihirobelmo I have TrackIR Pause assigned to F11 within TIR. Is there any way in AL that I can bind F11 to a DX in AL?

Why not just assign an existing DX button press in TIR?

@Icer Could you list the steps I should take to do what you suggest.

Sure, choose a joystick/throttle/ or any button that sends a DX press. Open the TIR main window, choose the profile you want to use (I have one called BMS 4.36, set to Exclusive). Select the “Action” window and choose what you want to assign (Pause in your case). Click on the “Key” button (yours likely has F11 on it). Window pops up with “Enter Desired Hotkey or button for : Pause”. Hit the button you want to actuate Pause, it should show up, save the profile, done…

@Icer I think you may have misunderstood my question. I already said I had F11 assigned to Pause in TIR. So, your response doesn’t say anything that I already did. I was asking how to assign the F11 key to a DX in Alternative Launcher.

I was offering an alternative to using a KB keypress to actuate a TIR function. I think if you for some reason need F11 to be the actuator you will need to use a program like Joy2Key to assign F11 to a DX press…
-
I tried using “=” as the alternative for a KB press for Pause in TIR. Now how can I get AL to bind that?
-
@Icer I acquired Joy2Key and got it work with TrackIR for F11. Running Alternative Launcher I can now pause TrackIR in BMS.
But still, I tried using “=” as the alternative for a KB press for Pause in TIR. Now how can I get AL to bind that, so I don’t have to use Joy2Key at all?
-
i think the alt launcher needs the checkmark it had on the previous version to keep the current Falcon bindings with no overwriting. And the option to let us select the keybinds.

I’m not sure but I only see BMS callbacks for “reload” and “recenter” TrackIR… no “pause” command.
ReloadTrackIR -1 0 0x14 0 0x2E 4 1 "SIM: TrackIR Reload" RecenterTrackIR -1 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 1 "SIM: TrackIR Recenter

Couple questions to be sure i’m clear.
Is your objective to press a button on your joystick/throttle/button box/whatever to turn TIR Pause on/off?
Without Joy2Jey running, in Devices/Game Controllers/Properties (for this device) , what DX# lights up natively when you press this button? (In my case I use the “Boat Switch” on my Warthog throttle for TIR Recenter (DX10) and Pause (DX12).
I know you were trying to get different keys (“F11” first and now “=”) to work, I just want to be sure you aren’t wasting a lot of effort for nothing as TIR allows for DirectX assignments…
-
@Icer Where do I find “Devices/Game Controllers/Properties (for this device)”?
Yes, my objective is to press the throttle POV (Coolie Switch) up to turn TIR Pause on/off. Thanks to your post earlier that told me about Joy2Key, I’m able to reach my objective. But I’m still looking for ways to do it with AL but without Joy2Key.
My bigger objective is to discontinue my Thrustmaster Warthog TARGET profile “Jc1 Profile” in the “Joystick & Input Devices” section and use AL as my device assignment tool. In my Warthog TARGET profile I do put TIR Pause on the throttle POV (Coolie Switch) and can do other things that AL cannot do. But I don’t think AL will permit TIR Pause without extra tools such as Joy2Key.
As @airtex2019 said in Alt Launcher 2.1.0:

And there are other limitations in AL compared to TARGET. For example in AL there is no LED support, no key sequence support, no multiple key support, no key timing support. But I’d rather use AL and give up those TARGET features for the way AL makes key assignment easy, unless BMS developers add features that make TARGET necessary

AL is nothing more than a 3rd party BMS setup file generator so those are BMS limitations (ie: no multiple key support other than “pinky shift”).

Ok, forget about AL for the moment. if your goal is to run without a TARGET script then the hat you are trying to use will not work natively in TIR as it will not accept a “POV” as a button press to actuate it. Running my DX128 TARGET script that Coolie hat UP position sends a DX19 press and works fine in TIR directly. The only solution I know of, without TARGET or Joy2Key, is to use the Mic Switch Hat (Up is DX3) for TIR and use the Coolie Hat for Comms (just checked in AL and it accepts the POV press for Comms just fine).
I’m still confused about the either/or thoughts with AL and TARGET. Without Target you have to use the RELEASE functions in AL to get all the switch positions to work. With TARGET (at least my script) you simply assign a press to a function, including the center position of 3 position switches, could not be easier. Add to that is sets the Coolie hat up as 4 DX #'s instead of “POV” and solves your current issue…
Now, as to getting to Control Panel/ Devices and Printers / Game Controllers my version of Win11 Pro beta has completely flummoxed that up. Win10 there was a category for game controllers and pretty icons for each device. To get to Game Controllers Properties you normally open Control Panel, Select Devices and Printers, find the TM Warthog Throttle, right clik to properties , and the Settings/Test window appears. TEST will show all the DX buttons (up to 32), press a button/hat/switch and the corresponding DX# (or hat) lights up. For me (and maybe you) you select Control Panel, then type “Game” in the search bar. Then select "Set up USB game controllers " on top left, then select your throttle, click properties, then you get the Settings/Test window… Hope this helps and didn’t just dig a deeper hole…

@Icer OK, I’m using DCS DX128 from github for AL. I got my DX assignments done. TIR pause and recenter are accessible with DX binds. Now that I’m using AL I get stuck on the taxiway at rampstart. The jet won’t move unless I push the stick past the AB detent. Any reason why?

If you assigned the axis properly in AL it should show up the same (and work fine) in BMS/Setup. AXISASSIGN/Throttle: ASSIGN. If using a std. Warthog you should show movement between the Idle detent stop (where you would (but don’t yet) Pull up/back to Idle) pushing forward. Push it to the AB Detent, clik “AB DETENT”, Pull back to the stop, clik “IDLE DETENT”. Now it should turn green once in AB, and Red when you pull up/back to enter Idle… ?
-
@Icer I did what you said but still have to go past AB to taxi. Here are pictures of AL and BMS:
They’re red and green in BMS but not AL. -
@jc1 I think you have to unassign one of the throttles, right think, for single engine, then power is applied to both, weird but it works.
-
@CriticalMass I’ve only assigned one of the throttles. The AL pictures show AB and IDLE.

But they should be in the same position/level.
