I don't know why I failed this SEAD mission
-
Hi all.
I’ve just made a campaign SEAD mission protecting an OCA strike and somehow the mission report says I failed.
I destroyed the SA-2 RADAR (was hard, the bad guys had it turned off until the strike flight arrived and made me miss one HARM. But Destroyed it with the second. Great job with the new AI!)
The strike flight destroyed the runaway and one of the four planes was shot down by a SU-35.
The escort flight (two F-4s) were destroyed by one SU-35 and one MIG-29.At the debriefing, my task is declared failed and my rating Average.
Who’s so? Was there any AAA that damaged somehow the strike flight? Or something like that? In the debriefing there’s nothing about it.
Thanks.

@Ferde And it will always be like this, unless this part is reworked.

Ah, ok. Thank you for the answer. I was wondering if I missed something.
Cheers!

You failed the mission
Because some missiles have been fired on package aircrafts probably -
@Ferde
You can understand better about what happened by reading carefully the debriefing report.
Do you still have it at hand? With best regards.
-
Hard to say without seeing the debrief but perhaps you killed the search radar vs. the fire control radar ?
-
Yes, I made screenshots.
@MnMailman you are right about the search radar.
But in the debrief there’s nothing about anyone being shot a SA missile.

Not because of the AD is failed. But hey…
…50% of the package was lost. It is very hard to treat otherwise this as a fail.
Yes, it is maybe not your fault but this is life. You are not the centre of the universe. You can give your best but if others fail you are also… -

Try to run a TE with a SEAD with a strike without any opposition and enjoy the failure.
“Mission failed: 0 loss to enemy AD” ??
Don’t lose time over this, this is not working properly for now, leaving space for all sorts of theories you won’t verify.

Yeah, if you can only get one radar you want to be sure it’s the fcr. It can still fire without the search radar but not vice versa.
-
@LorikEolmin I won’t. Thanks again. I was just answering the questions asked.
@MnMailman they only turned on the search radar as far as I noticed. I flew almost over the site. And, as said, they didn’t shoot any missiles. Maybe the FCR was destroyed on a previous mission. As Lorik said, I won’t think more about it as seems it’s a part that needs work.
I enjoyed the mission a lot, though.

SEAD as a flight task is still useful for AI to do SEAD. But if the flight is populated with humans only, or if you need a success for the campaign engine, SEAD will most likely be a problem. In these cases, yes Air Interdiction is a good workaround.

That’s the most important part.
