Solved Getting AI to tank up first?
-
It used to be that I can take the wingman position and request tanker refuel and my lead would tank up first, then me. I used this a lot for fine formation practice and if I was in the right position, tanker would clear me straight in instead of having to establish pre-contact position first. It seems that this is no longer possible in the AAR TEs? Or is there some new way to do this? If I was wingman now, tanker would directly allow me to tank up while lead goes to left wingtip of tanker
Thanks!

@Atlas Well did your lead request it or you requested it?
If you request it, then you should have priority…

@MaxWaldorf is there a way to get AI to request it?
-
In theory, should be in your flight plan…
You should set a refuel action on a steerpoint… -

If you need a study case, the M2kD here decide to refuel from TE start totally on their own. I suppose you can replace them with other aircrafts if you need to (in MC).

@MaxWaldorf I’m using the AAR TEs

@LorikEolmin Thank you sir, I will give this a try! Can you please confirm where I should put this file?

I’ve been wondering something about the 4.36 AAR training mission, and I think my question is the same as the OP’s.
Prior to 4.36, in the AAR training mission, I would take the #2 position in package 4980. I’d call the tanker (Canteen 1-1) and say “Canteen 1-1, Goblin 3-2, request air refueling.”
IIRC, the tanker would clear my flight lead to the pre-contact position instead of me, and my flight lead would take fuel first. This was good, actually, because it made it so I had to get on the boom in a turn, which was good practice.
Now, whether I say I’m Goblin 3-1 or 3-2 (I’m actually 3-2 in either case), I get cleared to the tanker first. Not a huge deal, it’s actually easier, since the tanker isn’t in a turn.
I was just wondering - and I think maybe the OP was also wondering - if there’s a way to restore the behavior of the tanker from the pre-4.36 AAR training missions. In other words, for our flight lead to take fuel first, so we can practice getting on the boom in a turn.

@Mylonite470 Yes, I would practice formation on the tanker and on my lead and if done correctly, I would skip pre-contact and would be cleared straight in once lead was finished tanking up. If done correctly, tanker would start his turn soon after. If not, I would have to connect during the turn.
@LorikEolmin I think I misunderstood your TE, the flights are Mirages and F-14s, I thought it would be F-16s allowing me to tank up as before?

@LorikEolmin Yes, but I thought there would be F-16s too

@Mylonite470
If you want turn practice, you can take a copy of the training mission (.trn file), rename it to .tac and then edit it. You then change the tankers refueling steerpoints so that they are more close together, AFAIR you can get down to 15-20nm. That should have him turning very often.-JayB
