Manual Calibration
-
Hi all,
Just switched from Win 7 Ultimate to Win 10 PRO in order to solve some issues with multiple USB devices.
Now, every time I boot my PC I need to open Cougar Control Panel and set Manual Calibration instead of Auto Calibration. No matter if I save that configuration, once I turn off and boot my pc again, Calibration switches to Auto…
I run CCP as Administrator.
Any suggestions?
Regards

Mine does the same thing. Could never figure out why, but I just got used to opening up the CCP and setting it all back to manual, then I test it.

BlackGio,
Sometime back I was researching something similar, and I found the advice noted below to be useful. Perhaps you can make use of it too.
Refer to RedDog’s post of 5/15/2020, 2:29 AM

Well that just answered my question. I unplug my cougar when I use the pc for other games because it is mounted to my flight seat. I use a more comfortable chair when I play other games. I also power everything down when I am done.

@greatcouloir thank you for your help.
By reading that post I understand that, in order to force CCP to load Manual Calibration by default, I need to add a line in Foxy Tmj file. Is that correct?
-
@MailMan I don’t unplug my Cougar, so my little Issue is caused from another reason.
-
That is correct.
When a major version of BMS is released (e.g., 4.35 to 4.36), I setup my Cougar following the instructions in the BMS Device Setup Guide. In my case I use the Cougar_DX.tmj file and on occasion forget to add USE HWSTARTUP (EMULATION_ON, AXIS_MODE_USER, CALIBRATION_MANUAL).
I made it a note in my personal installation checklist. Otherwise, the command “disappears”, and I have to relearn the tip!

@greatcouloir Exactly , I have that line on the top of tmj script from day1 … and it works as of today , win10., never ever had to even open CCP else then a axis tweak.
Maunal calib was done … 3-5 yrs ago when switched to hal sensors , removed pots… that was it , never touched calibration again.Good work.

@greatcouloir great! Will try tomorrow morning.
Thank you!

@greatcouloir good morning. Can you be so kind to post a screenshot of your Foxy .tmj line? Need to see where and how to write it. Also I set Emulation OFF instead of ON. Can I modify that line putting OFF instead of ON?

@greatcouloir thank you! I will try and let you know
-
@greatcouloir tried (modified your line Emulation to Off). Still need to manually select Manual Calibration in lower left prt of CCP relevant page.
No matters, I will always set it manuallyRegards

@BlackGio
“Emulation” on/off is actually switch between programmed / standard (default) mode.So if you have programmed the stck, your program + macro, tmj/tmm, emulation needs to be ON , or the program it the stick’s firmware will be disabled.
Stick will have its own defaults. All DX buttons and axis as preset in CCP., but no programmed buttons/macros.So if you have any program line in stick , button, axis , - wise , Emulation NEEDS to be ON.
Cheers

@white_fang hi. So, in CCP emulation is OFF (red button instead of green), so that’s why I modified the line. But as you explained, maybe I need to try to set Emulation ON and modify again .tmj line also.
As it is now (Emulation OFF) all works fine.
Will try and let you know.
Thank you!

@BlackGio
Good. No any problem m8, glad to share what I know.If button is “RED” , yes, emulation is OFF.
So, no program, button macros will work.
Stick will be simple windows DirectInput stick.
No problem there, just stick will be NOT programmed stick.If button is “GREEN” , emulation is ON. All bells and whistles, programmed stick.
Now, if emulation is OFF, red button , Does that “hwstartup” 1st line of program is run or not ???
Now that’s a tricky question… I never tested this…
If you want to try … -
@white_fang
Hello
where can I find Hall sensors, I have to try this mod
Thanks -
Mine is like this
-
@coyotte I bought mine , can’t really remember when, 2019? , from “Vipergear” (NL)… they/ the owner? was here on forum , or was that old forum? … anyway just google for that name
You can’t miss with that, no more pots… never seen cleaner axis travel… probably for the lifetime.
Cheers
