BMS audio output question

@Atlas if you’re on Win10, I use a little app named “Eartrumpet” which lets you pick a sound source for each application running. I set BMS to always use one device (headphones) and if that isn’t found, it uses the default. It might work on Win11 as well, but unsure.
-
What I find annoying is that BMS does not use the new audio device if I change it. If I have BMS open and realize that the wrong audio device is selected, I can’t just change it, I have to close BMS and open it again.
But I guess that’s a really old code section that would take too much effort to change.

@Fearripper96 I’m on Win10, I’ll give that a try, thanks!

Try that same thing with a very new game/sim… you’ll find the same results in many cases. AFAIK most game/simulator programs search for and hook into hardware devices at startup, USB controllers being a bit more lax with disconnect/reconnect during operation, but audio devices are quite a different beast.
It really depends on the design of the program, ymmv, and not just an ‘old game vs new games’ thing

For some reason, I’m not able to install it from the MS Store and I can’t make sense of how to install it from chocolatey or github

If I was you, I wouldn’t try to force install or side load it bypassing the MS Store - one way you can be sure that an app is compatible and able to run in Win11 would be that it can install properly from the MS Store. This is because MS Store won’t allow you to install something that is incompatible as they curate these items for stability and security for the OS version(s) they are validated and tested for.
I would err on the side of caution and assume it may not be compatible in Win11 unless some documentation by the author states otherwise, and also supplies a known good method to get it working in Win11 (if any).

@Atlas That’s odd. Is it not letting you download? If it does, the app ends up in your bottom right taskbar (by default it has the logo as an icon, but it might also look like the system sound manager as well). If it’s not in there, I’m not sure what the problem could be.

@Fearripper96 It looks like this on the MS Store:
That gray rectangle on the right side stays like that, so it’s not an internet issue. Restarted my PC and same thing.

Aaaaanddd…
Once again, my PC decides it wants to make me look like a fool… downloading Eartrumpet now. I guess I don’t mind looking silly if I get what I’m looking for.
EDIT: AAAAAAAaaaaannnnnndddd… it works!!
Just downloaded it, started it up, and done. I guess whatever settings I had set previously was “correct” but Windows just wasn’t playing nice. Eartrumpet makes it work as intended. Very cool! I even tried playing something on YouTube which played over the TV speakers at the same time doing a flight in BMS which played in my headset! Suhhhh-weeeeeetttt!!!
Thanks @Fearripper96 !!!

@Atlas lol - now I’m not sure where I got the impression you were on Win11, but I definitely got my wires crossed. Glad you got it sorted out!
Cheers!

@Atlas Glad it worked out for you!
