Direct download link 4.36

Thanks for your posts.
Torrent=bad feeling for me (sorry).
I am hoping for the future. Perhaps there will be a non-torrent solution or another normal download link or whatever. Something the developers can accept.
Until then - stepping into the forum from time to time, while hoping, must be enough.
Greetings and thanks for your efforts.

Instead of stepping out maybe forever, ask a friend to send you a copy or to make a link just for you?

@MaxWaldorf I understand why you use torrent. I dont understand why some are so afraid of using torrents to download BMS.
-
@Volksfuersorge i mean, I can send you a direct link in PM (so can pretty much anyone), if you trust the file you download that way…

But 99.99999% of BMS users use the torrent and has been the dev’s way of initial distribution since… forever.
If torrents were an issue, then devs won’t use it and/or authorise direct links ASAP.
@SemlerPDX has also offered a non-torrent option if you had PM’d him so I’m not sure what the continued issue is?? -

And they probably haven’t read their windows license agreement / EULA all the way down to the bottom, either
https://www.networkworld.com/article/2956574/windows-10-privacy-spyware-settings-user-agreement.html
But hey yeah, torrent bad, I get it.
@Volksfuersorge I can also provide a non-torrent link if you need one.
All the best,
Uwe

Hallo everyone.
When will we get the direct download link?
Thank you.
They’ve been clear that there are no plans to ever create a direct download link, or to allow public mirrors. Just get a safe and trusted torrent client software like qBittorrent (recommended by BMS team) – or as airtex2019 recently suggested, an app from the Microsoft App Store - as noted these are “sandboxed to only have permissions to make network requests and store files into your Downloads folder”:
https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/torrex-lite-torrent-downloader/9WZDNCRFJB3DYou may also contact me privately via PM here and I would personally get the files to you if the above options fail to work for you, but I strongly suggest you give them a try - any fear or misgivings can be alleviated easily enough by learning/understanding how and why SOME torrent client softwares are not good (like uTorrent), and why some are good (like qBitTorrent, or MS Apps that have been verified by MS to be safe).
I am not going to use torrent. This is clear. If a normal download link is not offered - Falcon BMS is finished for me. No problem at all.
Greetings.
Well, as I said, no reason for you to give up on BMS, I have the files on the VG website CDN, a direct download, yet you will have to contact me by PM directly. As stated, BMS has asked us all not to post public download mirrors. The files provided will match the checksums provided by BMS, if you want to check them after downloading for safety/security.
Let me know, happy to help if I can.
*edit - for the record, when requested via PM, I create a new link (which auto-expires in a few days) to the direct download of the files on our CDN, and provide it to whoever asked

I don`t play Falcon BMS anymore - still waiting for a public mirror. No torrent, no PM, no private copy, no “community socialism”, no experts in helping or stuff like that. Click a download button, run a exe - that would be the real thing. But i can wait, see what is new and waive. No problem at all.
Greetings.

I’m sorry, but that’s a very ignorant way of thinking. It’s actually a shame, because you have been brainwashed by the media that the Bittorrent protocol is somehow illegal. You associate downloads made via the Bittorrent protocol as illegal, because people share unauthorized copies of certain files with it.
If you were consequent in your actions, you’d stop viewing any website, because it uses HTTP and people use that to download unauthorized copies of files via that. Why use HTTP then, but not Bittorrent? That makes you a hypocrite.
No one is forcing you to play Falcon BMS, but what you can take from this, is to reconsider how you process information, if you have adopted such strong opinions about other things in life you’re not really familiar with and if it is negatively impacting your life.

A mirror is by definition a copy of the file hosted by a 3rd party website, such as mine for example, and checksums of this file will equal the original exactly. A private mirror is the same thing, although the URL link is not publicly known or advertised.
But it’s important for you that everyone here knows that you’re drawing a line in the sand right now - not just for you but for everyone - regarding torrents which you’ve decided are a bad thing? You can’t possibly tolerate a private mirror or peers helping each other out (or even from “experts”), only a public mirror, eh? And, you’re okay with someone other than BMS providing direct download link(s) to the program files, just NOT if that link is unable to be publicly visible or in some post somewhere next to the torrent links?
Can’t help but feel that this line you are drawing in the sand is wholly unproductive and totally futile. I don’t want to assume, but seems you have some issues and not sure anyone here will be able to help.
-
I don’t get why it’s such a big deal to ban direct links altogether. I can understand not being able to provide a host for those files yourself due to cost. But why prohibit people from offering their own mirrors?
Sure, checksums are not a security measure (despite what some people here seem to think), you’d have to sign the files for that. I’ve had my own troubles with the torrent files provided and had to dick around with them for a whole afternoon before I got BMS myself. Instead of that I could’ve just found SOMEONE’s mirror and downloaded that. But no, hard ban on that. Why?
Since then I uploaded it to my own server, but I can’t share any links without violating the rules. This is just silly. Again, I understand the decision to go torrent. But why ban everything else?
-
Let me be clear.
We have an agreement with the license holder to distribute the BMS package.
We control it’s distribution as part of that agreement…
It is not communism or anything else…
We just want to avoid issues as we had in the past of people distributing the packages while trying to promote themselves (and even try to sell it).Nothing more to discuss…
