Bin to xml database question
-
how could i best update older 4.33 database bin files to xml? i read about de bsavelegacy option but it seems the other way around, so creating a bin.

I guess you tried with MC but didn’t work?
-
@MaxWaldorf nevermind i just found a solution i think. i could place my old bin files into objects dir. then editor could open it. then its possible to save as xml. let’s see if there will be other obstacles but this is looking good
-
@Obi1 Yes, probably the best soultion to go through falcon editor
-
@MaxWaldorf i think the editor created the default xml files and not from the bin files i put into the objects dir. how could i create the xml files like this, but using my own database (bin) as input? could 3ddbuilder help here?
-
@Obi1 you need to convert the 3DDB yes (there is a flag in falcon config to enable old 3DDB support)
But I think with 3DDB editor, you can extract and recompile in new format
-
@MaxWaldorf but isn’t 3ddbuilder only for hdr and lod files? just found out that editor indeed takes db from main objects folder if it cannot find one in theater folder. unfortunately there seems to be no option to load db via bin file format and then export to xml file format?
how do other pre 4.34 theater creators have gone around this? create everything again in Editor ? Cant seem me doing this or edit al xml files manually -
lod and hdr are not the issue, i can recreate it in new format. but it is things like ct and wcd or acd that i would like to convert to the new xml format

@Obi1 said in Bin to xml database question:

I am afraid most are done manually.

@ccc1tw i think so too but was hoping to maybe find a ‘hidden’ way to auto create from bin format into xml’s. or to export from older editor to xml but these lacked the option. and newer editors are restricted to exact bms versions. Felt so close to achieving it when my xml files got created. but it was stock db version.
