Just rename them from .trn to .tac. If you convert them like that you can train yourself and make the flight hours count.
Oh interesting.
John.

@Snake122 It probably is because combat missions are tied into the whole promotion logic. But I agree, they could have their own category so one can keep track of practice hours as well

Good info, TS, thx. When we converted some of the trn’s to tac’s in OFMKTO it was so people could use Mission Commander to put in their jet-of-choice. It’s cool that they get flight time, too.
-
@TigerShark Good call, do you lose any of the cockpit scripting that happens at the beginning of the training missions?
@jayb I know regular TEs count for flight time, but I didn’t think they counted for promotion.
-
@Snake122 Hm, I think that promotion “points” can only accumulate as part of campaign missions. So not combat TEs, would be my guess

Snake, I just did a spot check in OFMKTO, and converting to TE’s apparently does lose the script

No the scripts work normally and in the end you also get a debriefing screen with the results. The only case you don’t get a debriefing screen is when your flight role is “training”.
-
@TigerShark Wow. I didn’t know that one — thanks!

how do you change them? as the .trn cannot be renamed?
thanks
John.

@arabianjules Works fine for me. Make sure BMS is not running.
Or you could simply copy and paste as the same name and a .tac extension, and so retaining your training pack intact.
-
@arabianjules You can change them by clicking in the extension(.trn), instead of the TE name. Then you will see a message that maybe the TE will not work, but you will ignore it and press ok.
