4.37 MFDE extract HUD to MFD
-
I think this is new, and I hope I’m posting it in the correct place.
I just installed 4.37 and rebuilt all my extractions, key files, etc from scratch.
The MFDE extractions appear correctly when BMS is not actively in the simulation, however when the simulation begins, the MFD displays portions of the HUD.
I have no idea about where this is coming from. I have attached all of the relevant images that seem necessary for advice. I am really stumped. -
So…you can put the HUD up on an MFD, but you have to select it in WDP as an option, and then you will see a button for it.
I was surprised that this is the case when I first started out with BMS, because it is default for Falcon.

MFDE needs to be updated…
We don’t maintain it so bug refused.
Use RTT instead for MFDs

@MaxWaldorf as always I really appreciate your time.
I have had a devil of a time finding the source for the RTT server install. Searches for RTT bring up vast discussions on the topic, but I have not found the source in an hour of reading.That said, your response led me to the following discussion:
@oakdesign and @Icarus were discussing the doubleresolution flag that is no longer used in BMS. @Icarus noted that while it is not used by BMS, it is still used by others.
set g_bDoubleRTTResolution 1
So I tried adding it - BAM! it worked beautifully.
I’m not trying to instigate anything here, but only wanted to share what I found. I expect as time goes on, this tidbit won’t help non-updated software. So can you guide me to the RTT software so I can educate myself on what I need to setup next?
-
RTT is in this location
C:\Falcon BMS 4.37\Tools\RTTRemoteThere is a readme.txt file to help get it set up. There are also instructions on what to do in the RTTclient.ini file.
Back up your RTTclient.ini file when you get it set up because in the past it has been overwritten during updates.

This post is deleted! -
I use both RTT and MFDE for that reason. Use RTT for what it can do and MFDE for what is left that it can do. Maybe one day RTT will do as much as YAME used to do so that only one program will be needed.

@Punisher
I use Falcon_MFD_Extractor_v0_6_3_0__x86 for BMS4.36_3, so I tried it for 4.37 last night and I faced the same problem as yours with my MFDs that equip CUBESIM’s 7’ USB displays; 'the MFD displays portions of the HUD.’Anyway, I do not familiar with RTT, and I don’t know RTT is works with CUSESIM’s USB 7’ display MFD system or not, so I’d like to use MFD_Extractor.
I remembered that there is newer version of MFD_Extractor that has no installer, ‘MFDE.zip’.

https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/20220/mfd-extractor-not-working/8In my case, the newer MFD Extractor works fine with BMS4.37!
How to install;
MFDE.zip includes none of instrument images, so we need correct MFD_Extractor_v0_6_3_0 in program (x86) folder.
Then,
Copy all of those new files of MFDE.zip into existing Falcon MFD Extractor folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Falcon MFD Extractor).BTW,
RTTer says RTT is better than MFD Extractor many times, but I hope MFD Extractor catches up MDF new versions ever!Hope this helps.
p.s.
In my environment,
MFDE_newer version is compatible with BMS 4.37, but it doesn’t work correctly with BMS 4.36_U3. So I remain MFDE_v0_6_3_0__x86 for BMS 4.36_U3. -
So… copy ALL the files from the newer MFDe to the old MFDe map and run it from there? For me, that still doesn’t provide me with the images, sadly enough. I could run the old version with images, but in that case the extraction didn’t work.

I run BMS on Win10 (1909) on old DELL XPS 8700.
My TM MFDs with CUBSIM 7’ USB displays show MFD screens on BMS 4.37.
Anyway, I added the following strings to the end of the falcon bms.cfg of BMS 4.36 as followed to Oakdesign suggestion.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
// MFDExtractor 0.6.3.0 Settings (not available in the Config.exe) //
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
set g_bExportRTTTextures 1
set g_bDoubleRTTResolution 1While, I do not add any strings to the falcon bms.cfg of BMS 4.37.
Because it already have the string ‘set g_bExportRTTTextures 1’.Finally, I attach the contents of old MFDE 0.6.3.0 and new MFDE, for your help.
Old MFDE 0.6.3.0

@Golgo11 thanks for the help so far, sadly I am still getting black squares instead of instruments. I have opened a new support thread about my issue.

@Fluke
I’m not a techie, but I guess that this problem relates to 4.37 new UI resolution and VR feature.https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/23939/the-new-ui-is-too-small-for-me/8
MaxWaldolf points;
New UI requires 1920 x 1080 resolution screen…I guess that you use a big main monitor and touchscreen(s) for your instruments.
Have you set the resolution to 1920 x x1080?(I’ve set Resolution to 1920 x 1080 in the setup for BMS 3.45, 3.46 and 3.47, so far. I use 34’ monitor for main, two 7’ USB monitors for MFDS, one 4.3’ USB monitor for DED and one 10’ USB monitor for PFL and Caution Panel.)
Just my two cents.
