#2/#3/#4 - no 2nd AAR in same mission
-
This i noticed in all versions of BMS :
1st time i take my package to make AAR, all is fine.
After we finished the AAR we continue with our mission.
When i’m taking my package to do 2nd AAR, all (#2,3,4) stay on formation and do nothing after i finished refueling.
More to this, after i finished refueling, the tanker close the boom and go up to its normal cruising altitude. So even the tanker not “sees” my other package members.Tried to give the new order in 4.37 :
- “request air element refueling”
They ignore and not making any effort to make the 2nd AAR.
Is there a way to force the to make more then one AAR ?
-
Did you declare that you’re done refueling?

yes.
again, the problem is with the 2nd AAR.
-
@regev since you and all the flight members, especially # 4 did that, did # 2-4 try “Back in Pre-Contact Position” call on the second refuel? I haven’t tried exactly your scenario in MP, but I have noticed that sometimes would help on MP flights to reset things.

No.
They stay on package formation, make no attempt to contact the tanker.
Normally on the 1st AAR it goes like this :- i ask the tanker to refuel.
- immediately #2-4 make a sharp manouver and headed to their places near the tanker.
- I do my AAR, when i finished, i tell the tanker that i am done (option 3 on the menu)
- #2 starts its AAR operation, when finished he declare he is done.
- #3 & #4 continue the AAR sequance as #2 did.
On the 2ns AAR attemp (later on the mission, after 1hour & more) :
- i ask the tanker to refuel.
- #2-4 just stay in package formation.
I think this is the problem, right at this point.
When i finish my 2nd AAR, i say i am done and the tanker immediately disengage its boom and go up from FL220 to FL240.

It looks like this older report

… where AI can’t do the extra step humans can bring with Y2. -
You can report it as a bug if you document it a bit…
BUT… Those situations are edge cases so don’t expect us to solve that as top priority (refueling twice in a campaign for AI is not meant to happen)
Cheers

… where AI can’t do the extra step humans can bring with Y2.Ok, 2 thing i will check next mission :
- ensure all package are in the 10nm bubble from tanker
- use on the 2nd AAR the ‘2’ option on the menu
Plus, i will have 2 tankers on the air on my next mission, maybe i will try 1st AAR at tanker #1 and 2nd AAR on tanker #2.

ME128, just saying

@jayb yeah so what?
Our focus is KTO… The fact that I help on this theater doesn’t mean it is a priority…
-
@MaxWaldorf AAR refueling practice could take place on KTO, as could deep strikes. Granted those are more rare, not the practice of course
-
Just a comment on this: On 4.37.1 I can refuel my flight several times (I fly as lead and have one wingman, tested with the AAR TE).
No. 2 takes fuel after I have refueled, also when we leave the tanker after 1st refuel session and come back from 30+ miles. Granted, it was not an hour of flying in between as the original report here

Considering there has been no fix in U1 for that I am a bit confused
In the past while I developped and tested AAR I had no issue refueling Al several times with my wingmen
Then the OP , then the last report above from jayb saying it’s OK in U1…
Could the OP provide a clear TE repro case in U1 please ?

Normally i contacted the tanker from 10nm . . . this was the problem !
#3 & #4 was in my formation and 2 miles from me, so they were alwayes outside the tanker bubble.
So, on my last mission (4.37 KTO) i contacted the tanker at less the 6 miles from it . . . and it worked.
I did 3 AAR , all flight members contacted the tanker and got their fuel. -

make sure when you write a bug report, make sure you follow it, because we read them all you know, and we dont like to spend a lot of time on false bugs
