New free MFD/ICP app to control Falcon BMS from touch devices

I don’t use Windows Defender because I use Norton 360, and Norton 360 is set up to allow FalconBMSUniversalServer. Norton 360 allows it.
Well… then it is Norton… or something other. You can disable ALL firewalls on computer, for 5 mins , just for test. - as soon you pause/turn off Norton, Defender might kick in … so need to disable all and Windows Firewall. Then try to connect.
Other then that, you could do a packet/connection tracer… eg. Wireshark or something simpler , just to see there is connection attempt at all. Since you know source/target ip , it would be easy to filter out transport with Wireshark
just my 2 kopeyke
Good luck -
@white_fang I already tried Norton off and couldn’t connect. I leave Norton on because FalonBMSUniveralServer is listed in Norton as an allowed program that Norton should not block. Don’t know anything about packet/connection tracer and I’m not familiar with Wirshark or something similar.

@jc1 It has to be something special about your setup or network. Are you sure that your router is not blocking connections from the wireless network into the wired network (sometimes configurable as
wireless protection
? Do you know the ip range of the devices on the wireless network, because I expect they are different subnets. -
@kungfoo I wish I could talk more about computer technology but I’m limited. I do know that my system blocks wi-fi from use when it’s using ethernet. I always run on ethernet.
-
But your tablet is connected via WiFi?
-
@kungfoo I’ve been using iPhone. Today I tried it and it worked, just like it did when I first downloaded your new app with the new icon. In between those successful attempts it didn’t work. Well, we tried to find out why but now it doesn’t matter. I hope it keeps on working. I regret taking your time but am very thankful for your efforts to help me.
-
@jc1 that’s okay, sometimes computers and networks are weird. Glad it sorted itself out.
-
@kungfoo On the iPhone what should be done to remove the keyboard?
-
@jc1 @kungfoo Solved the problem by uninstalling/reinstalling both the pc app and the iPhone app. But I have a feature request. Is it possible to make the ICP page in landscape mode so that when I switch pages from MFDs to ICP I don’t have to turn the phone around?
Edit:
Never mind the feature request because your app already does it.
Thanks for making this app. -
Great app!
Thanks so much for this! -
Love this! Works great on my iPad but my phone is too small to be helpful (sausage fingers). I thought I would use the MFD’s more than the ICP but I find myself using the ICP more. Looks like I might need to get a 2nd iPad.
Anyway, Thanks Kungfoo!

Hi @kungfoo,
When launching the Windows server exe, I am getting the 0.0.0.0:9022 address. This tells me that, for some reason the server isn’t playing nicely with the network.
Steps done to troubleshoot:
- reinstall both app and server program
- allow exception through port forwarding on network
- turn off security (both security suite and Windows Defender)
- turn off VPN
Is there any tips that you have for it to connect? I absolutely love using the app a while ago but now doesn’t work.
Cheers,

RI also have this same problem and have tried similar steps without success. Has anyone had this and fixed it?
Thanks

@wazza69
0.0.0.0
is a special network address and means ‘listen on all interfaces this computer has’. If you had multiple network cards connected, it would listen on all of them. It’s absolutely the right address to listen on.
If the app worked before and stopped working now, there’s almost certainly something that has changed with your pc and/or network, since the server and app network code has not changed at all since almost the first release. -
-
I also couldn’t establish a connection. my PC is connected through Ethernet and the iPad is on Wi-Fi, for some reason the PC names the connection other than the Wi-Fi name. does this matter?
-
@Bluestar that should be irrelevant. Can you find out if both of them are in the same subnet, i.e. both ip adresses start with
192.168.10.x
If that is not the case, try disabling server discovery by entering the server ip address in the app settings (cogwheel, bottom right).
And make sure you actually run the addon server app and allow it in windows firewall.
-
Hey kungfoo, good to see the app is still alive and kicking!
I wonder if there have been any new releases or whether you plan on implementing new features in the future…
It would be great to be able to edit the layout and add some more gauges & lights for those users that have the necessary screen real estate like on a tablet.
All the best,
Uwe

@kungfoo After installing 4.37.3 I get a message on my iPad that says, “Discovering server”, instead of bringing up the ICP and the MFDs. Does anything need to change?
