Unsolved Briefing Window, Comm Ladder question
-
I apologize in advance for any misunderstanding, but I really need some guidance…
I’m running a plain vanilla KTO Rolling Fire campaign.
I select a package and open the briefing window.
In the Comm Ladder section, the ‘Intra-Flight’ row confuses me.
It displays UHF 249.900 with no [] besides it. This frequency does not match UHF6, or any other UHF frequency listed in the default values in WDP, and it does not match any of the default values in my pilot *.ini file, either.
Also, it displays VHF 142.525 with no [] besides it. Again, this frequency also does not match any default values in WDP, and it does not match any of the default values in my pilot *.ini file.
Am I looking at this wrong? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

This does not happen every time, and I can not discern a pattern behind when it does happen.

The structure you need to get which is respected by BMS:
on UHF:
[1] Ground Ops
[2] Ground
[3] Tower
[4] Departure
[5] Check-in
[6] Tactical
[7] Approach (primary)
[8] Tower (primary)
[9] Ground (Primary)
[10] Appraoch (alternate)
[11] Tower (alternate)
[12] Ground (alternate)
[13] Tanker
[14] GuardVHF tried to mimic the same but that depends on VHF availability…
PS: don’t forget that not all airfields have UHF or VHF… So your milage will vary…

@SoBad Your alternate looks strange, usually three presets there. Plus, its an airstrip (which is unusual).
You mention that you select a flight. Two things come to mind here: Do you select a seat as well, before opening the Briefing? Are they already airborne or still “briefing” ?
-
@SoBad After selecting the flight on the frag list and a seat within it, go to the DTC and load the comm plan. Now, save the DTC. If you check the briefing after this, the bracketed radio preset numbers should be shown on the briefing page along with the radio frequencies.

John, I’ll try that tonight. But if it works, it begs the question: Why isn’t the briefing Comm Ladder correct to begin with? Why should I have to load comm in my DTC to change the briefing page? Seems backward to me. But if it works, thanks for the workaround.

Sometimes I select the seat, sometimes not. Maybe that is the pattern that has been eluding me.
They are not airborne-- they are in briefing.

@SoBad Great, give it a try. And note that Johku’s extra step with loading the Comm plan (and saving) is the ultimate procedure which should never fail.
-
@jayb - You nailed it. The moment I put my butt into the flight lead seat, the briefing page Comm Ladder changed and listed legitimate UHF/VHF frequencies.
This is a great workaround, but to me, this is a bug because I shouldn’t have to actually seat myself in a flight for the briefing page to contain legitimate frequencies. That’s just weird.
Thanks to all who helped me on this.
