Maverick Boresight on Ground
-
Hi,
i tried to follow the instructions from the Avionics Checklist to Boresight the Maverick on the Ground.
Which would be very helpfull not to Boresight them in flight where you are first in need of finding an accurate target…Well i get the Maverick to work but the TGP never times out on Ground. Of course i have Gnd Jettison and Master Arm SIM.
Does anybody get the Boresight process work on the ground? -
I typed ‘maverick boresight ground’ into the search box and this was the 4th thread in the list: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?23420-Tips-for-Maverick-Boresight-Align-on-the-Ground&highlight=maverick+boresight+ground
You can do it, but it’s easier in the air

Hello i am trying to boresight the MAV in the ground in BMS 4.37
Steps
Step 1 . TGP on
Step 2. WPN MAV PRE. ( wormed up)
Step 3. Ground jettison enable
Step 4. Master Arm or Sim.
Step 5. Trying to move the TGP and the head moving independent left or right
Step 6. TGP - TMS forward to point track something ,trying to point ,then moves again without to move my cursor.
Step7. SOI WPN try to lock the MAV head somewhere but nothing. Is it possible to have RL procedure MAV boresight in the ground?
kind regards

I always found this challenging and wonder if it’s realistic.

@Mower @Geraki there were long threads on this before … iirc the consensus was, this just isn’t done in RL. the wings flex very differently on ground vs in air, so you want to wait until airborne. also, iirc there were concerns about removing lens covers on ground due to possibility of rock/dust damage during takeoff… although I think BMS got rid of lens covers at some point? not sure

I am sure one of the manuals states you can only boresight on the ground if the covers are not present basically.
I have a vid of the covers being installed on Mavs but will not post as no one will thank me for it
Actually read this - confusing myself !! https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/20757/maverick-issue
