WIP: JA37 Viggen

The typAC and typEngine have been sorted, thanks. The FM is improving but not yet how Max and I want it to be. Pumpyhead is examening the 3D model to add it to the BMS database. Apart from the cockpit, all is going well so far
Forgot to ask, what is the nDof presently??

I havenāt mentioned it yet: Max has tweaked the sounds. JA37 will come with dedicated cockpit and (outside) engine sounds.

Well thatās sort of curious. When I have imported the current model and update the parent, it puts the nDof at 61???

Also need the nSwitch setting please.

Anything else? Btw, this is the JA37, not the AJ37.

And the new external sounds:

Not right now, but I have the model installed that you sent, I have the DB set the way you show and I have no gear showing. Usually that is a sign of a nDof/nSwitch issue.
You sure I have the right model??

Brian, if you edit the model in LE you can choose UPDATE PARENT RECORD from the drop-down menu. This assures that LE updates the nDof, nSwitch to the proper numbers.

Yeah I know, I did that(do it will all replacements, most of the time, lol) , it set the nDof at 61 and the nSwitch at 20, and then when I seen that the gear was missing I asked Fritz what he had for nDof and nSwitch and they were totally different.
So I tried to update it manually and still no joy. Thatās why I posted up if Fritz was sure I had the current correct model.
Is this model the correct one?? AJS-37 vE1 dated 11/1/2011
Actually itās AJS-37 vF dated 11/2/2012, I just imported and replaced it again and still the nDof is 61 and nSwitch is 20 after Update Parent Record??? Not sure whats going on. LE 6.2.3.3.

I thought this was about the JA-37 not the AJ-37?

Nah, the AJS-37. I finished the JA-37 a while ago. Okay there is one rack issue but the model is installed okay. Just having some issue with the AJS-37??

Brian,
Itās a matter of mixing up. This thread is about the JA-37. The LE screeen I made is from the JA-37: I didnāt know you were asking about the AJS37. I think at this stage it is better to talk about the AJS37 by e-mail.
Iāll send you the latest files. Cya next week
-
I know the threads is about the JA-37 but you had stated in the thread earlier about me getting time to do the AJS and thatās why the questions by me about the nDof/nSwitch settings regarding it.
Nevermind. Iāll be gone next week on Tues through the 28th!!

Working on the FM with mAXpOWER. Goals for this week:
1. Get the max speed right: Mach 1.2 at sea level and 2.0 at high altitude
2. Supersonic in 60 seconds
3. Airborne within 500 m
4. Rotate speed between 112 and 155 Mph
5. Delta wing effect (much loss of energy at high-G turn)Edit: and add a kind of threshold at Mach1
Edit 2: #1 to 3:
-
Iām really sorry not having enough time free to contribute, Iāve all engine and aero data for JA-37, just never format them in Falcon formatā¦
BTW: do not miss delta effect, delta wing do NOT lose more energy at high AoA, they drag less on these conditions, they just drag more at medium AoA (where most A/C reach their best sustained turn rate), and Viggen is not a true delta, but a delta+canard, so she does not suffer the usual ālimited AoA in supersonicā delta feature. -
Thanks Topolo, could you send me the engine and aero data you have for the JA-37?
And about the energy loss: in the book āSwedish Viggensā written by Jan Jorgensen is a chapter about the flight characteristics. "When manoeuvring, the Viggenās initial turn rate was excellent, but it lost energy fast due to the high induced drag caused by the large delta wing and even though this was partially compensated by the powerful engine, the sustained turn rate was poor. In a 180 degree turn at maximum G (7) the speed could go from Mach 0.9 to 300 km/h (186 mph). When describing the braking eeffect of the delta wing one pilot said that it was like dragging a barn door behind you when manouevring hard." In other words, the Viggen was not ment as a dogfighter, but as a very stable weapon platform throughout the whole flight envelope.
Btw, Jan Jorgensen is also the photographer of these wellknown pictures: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Swedenā-Air/Saab-JA37DI-Viggen/0969713/L/

Nice mAX. Sounds good.

Nice sounds! How do you make individual aircraft sound different?
