Guns, guns, guns!…

A couple of gunfire related questions, if you allow me.
Are the different gun modes correctly modelled in BMS? The reason I’m asking is that they don’t all work as supposed for me, but I cannot rule out the possibility that I simply need more training The default EEGS mode is OK, but I’m also curious about the others.
Secondly, when my performance is evaluated on the debriefing screen, the number of gun hits/misses is shown. How is this calculated? Certainly not by individual rounds fired…
Thanks in advance for your time

If burst, no matter how long, hits, it’s a hit. Otherwise it’s a miss.

OK, that’s an answer that explains at least part of the contents of my question, thank you.

I hope so because I use the first mode next to EEGS.
But it looks good compared to some RL footage:

Nice footage, sorcer3r, thanks for sharing; looks like he’s using the LCOS mode, that’s what we see most often in RL dogfight videos.
-
that’s not LCOS. that’s the SSLC.
but from all I saw, it’s not working properly in BMS.
it should be almost the same as SNAP, but the impact point should be the big circle thing.
in BMS, it’s a full SNAP (with impact marker) and the big thing is doing nothing.Personally I like SNAP/SSLC, but it’s less usfull then EEGS when you do not have radar lock.
EEGS funnel gives you range estimate not available in other modes. AFAIK, in RL, the SSLC circle (the big one) is adjusted by target wingspan (just like the EEGS funnel) - but again, not sure if it works correctly in BMS -
Grateful for more info, uri_ba, regards

EEGS is the only reliable sight in BMS – we haven’t really maintained the other modes much. This may change for 4.33 where there’s more emphasis on starting to make different vintages of Vipers be more represented in the avionics department at least. Right now the presentation is centered on USAF BLK50/52 with CCIP improvements. In jets like that, EEGS is all you get.

Hello,
A newbie here and apologizing in advance for my noob qtns.
1- Is there a way to find out how many rounds bullets are remaining to use guns wisely?
2- I have seen some pics/video showing remaining chaffs/Flare on RWR. Not sure it was BMS or other Falcon flavor. Which settings does this?
3- I extracted RWR using BMS extractor on another monitor. Green circles are not drawn on extracted RWR. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks! -

Thanks!1- yup, displayed on the SMS MFD page. should say 51 GUN on the side, for 510 rounds. 34GUN is ~340 rounds.
2-unsure sorry. I have not seen that info on the RWR before. it is displayed on the CMDS panel though.
3-you are using the built in extractor? you should see displayed items, but the glass imprint will not show up. you can order a nifty glass for it from viperpanels though.

Thanks Bli3wolf!

um, sure, no problem.
bli3? I dont even know how to pronounce that…
blue is probably easier to pronounce. you can also just hit the “Thanks” button under a post, but I appreciate your taking the time to say thanks.

Hello can we change the F-16 bullets color from green into red as previous BMS version?
if yes how?
-
Pretty sure the tracers are still red? The only time I’ve seen western aircraft firing green tracers was in the Dogfight module. And even then I only think I saw it if I had unlimited gun ammo checked.
-
From BMS Manual, Chapter 14.2 LIST AND EXPLANATION OF THE CONFIG OPTIONS:
g_bUseTracerColors Enable (1) or Disable (0) green tracers for OPFOR (red) aircraft. Default = 1 (Enabled).
I know there are mods available to change tracer colours as well. Type ‘tracer’ into the search box in the top right corner of the page and you can read them.
