Terrible FPS
-
I tried different settings for the graphics tab. Bad fps after unistall and reinstall. Any suggestions?

I had an issue with my fps being terrible after a reinstall. I uninstalled and reinstalled again, that seemed to fix it.
do you have antialiasing enabled?
-
only the mode was application controlled but even on off the fps is bad. I’ll try unistall reinstall then. Thanks Blu3wolf

i dont know any details on your system, but i was having the same problem on my laptop. Apparently it decided on its own to go into energy-saving mode.
switched back to performance mode, and it worked great.

you have a nvidia card? I have terrible fps too with a GTX670. I had better luck with older drivers, but gave up on bms now. Too much hassle for shit graphics/textures.
edit: in fairness have to say: after installing U5 bms now runs smooth for me. Since I also changes OS to win 8 64bit, I can’t be sure what fixed my horrible fps problem. I do know that some nvidia drivers do not play well with bms, from my experience every new driver gets worse for me with bms. Atm on 311.06 drivers and it runs butter smooth. I have all settings on max in game, with all the check boxes under advanced tab ticked (was set standard)

Guess you can do much better…
Change attitude, or if you don’t like BMS don’t post here and clear off!!!Biker

what do you call “terrible FPS”, when do they happen, what are your system specs?
Cheers

What features do you have turned on and what drivers are you using??
-
Update 5 turned on all the shaders on my install, hence the FPS drop. Had to go back to config and turn things down.

Me on an old 5870 ATI
1080P main screen + 4 small screens.I just updated to U5 and all run smooth, have avg. 75 - 95 fps all time. instant action, training TE with Laser bombs, will test in TE and Camp online, but all seems fine here.

Hate jumping into a thread where guys are getting banned left, right and centre… but this thread is as good as any to ask my question.
I recently added 2 small screens to my setup (below in my sig) for MFD extraction using BMS built-in. Aside from TOTALLY losing my SA (can’t stop looking at the damned screens!), i’m getting a brutal drop in FPS when i flick on my NVGs. After leaving them on for 5-15 seconds, everything seems to return to normal. If i turn the NVGs off and then on again… same performance drop. Can’t actually tell you what my FPS drops to, but it essentially becomes a slide show.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

use mfde by lightning and not build in? maybe it’s better? use a second pc with mfde to ease off the drop?

+1 - What Wolf said– why turn on ALL shaders by default in Update 5 when you know that’s among the biggest FPS killers?

Thought i read that the BMS MFD extractor results in less of a hit (especially with AMD cards). I don’t have an extra computer to run the extraction independently unfortunately. I’ll give MDFE a try anyway just to see what it’s all about.

Nobody does that on purpose, the update is replacing your config file, so getting everything back to default (all shaders on). again (like the other thread), if you want no shaders, simply turn them off, 10 seconds work.
Why fly without shaders, that escapes me, but anyway… I believe your 6870 isn’t weaker than my GTX-560TI, and in fact handles better the exported displays. With all shaders on, multi-smapling quality 2, 1920x1200, exported MFDs to a second screen, I get good FPS even in heavy camp missions, the worse it ever gets is ~22-23 and that is rare… if you have huge drops in heavy camp missions then maybe you need to upgrade CPU and system, but your V-Card isn’t the bottleneck.
BTW update 5 should have better FPS than before. I have a very touchy eye for FPS drops or improvements and I noticed real improvement with U5, I’d guess ~15-20%

I noticed that too, thank you for this. Did something in particular change to get more fps? I’m very interested to know.
Keep em coming!

Yea I would like to know also what params changed so to have this FPS improvement?

Your welcome, but I’m not the one to thank for this, this kind of improvements are usually kind of above my paygrade
It came out from some investigations and optimizations of some rendering parts of the code

So I would have liked to ask the OP if uninstalling and reinstalling worked…
ah well.

Here is my FPS, everything is turned on in Config Editor. It was recorded in and empty TE, res. is only 1280x1024.
http://www.sg.hu/listazas_msg.php3?id=1114537900&no=43689
Where FPS is 8 was misdisplayed somehow it was 20.
My configuration is in my signiture, rest of setting were these. CPU and VGA is on max. cpu clock settings.
VGA settings
Anti-Aliasing - x2 + edge detect
Anisotropic Filtering - app. controlled
Tesselation - AMD optimalized is flagged
Vsync - off
Catalyst AI - performance + enable surface optimization is flagged
Anti-Aliasing mode - qualityIngame settings
Quality sample 1
In advanced section, in the right column all options are selected, from the left only the anisotropic filtering is selected.
What can cause the low FPS…?? I use stil U4. Most of Hungarian players have same or weaker config but has double of my FPS in 1920x1080…
