Are you re-tiling as well?
I’m also working on a major overhaul on Korea, (burnt out on Libya); never again will I take on a theater that size. In Korea, I’ve done in 2-3 weeks what took almost a year to do with Libya.
I threw in a few farm tiles to dress it up a bit, otherwise it’d be all solid colors.
Have you tried removing buildings from your tiles? Made a world of difference for me, I now only plan on keeping buildings on urban, airfields, and the like.
btw: those tiles are still not finished, but almost there; plan on connecting the small trails/roads to see how it looks!
I would assume your too far along for a collaboration project. I’m not interested in using the traditional transitions but I do have templates for my transitions and nearly all tiles have been replaced already, just a few in North Korea that I have to figure out what they are before I replace em with my solid colored tiling set. My method involves a lot of manual tiling though and from what I remember you prefer an automated system.
If nothing else I’m sure we can find some textures to share.

Sorry guys… but…

OK…

Looks very good Polak. Looking forward to trying them out. Did you pull some over from ITO?
@Arty - The more the merrier. I’m happy these will be released soon and Toms as well because the flare tiles won’t anytime soon.

@Arty,
It was inevitable that sooner or later all who were dabbling with tiles were to embark onto Korean project. It was asking for that from little more than a decade! Unfortunately in the painters world collaboration is rather difficult. So there this is why we have so many projects at different stage of readiness.@Demo
And of course some of the material is from earlier projects , but not that really much.
Having completed one major tiling project, I have pretty good idea whats really involved in COMPLETE revamp of the tileset for the entire theater. Judging from the tidbits of information about the progress of works of others, I “painted” quite good, what I believe, picture of where all others are ATM. From that I decided to move in today, because in no way I would jeopardise 6 month pretty intensive work on my tiles. This is not to say at all - move over here I come. Not at all (eventhough from the outside it may look perhaps that way). Rather, I would still encourage others to keep hammering on their respective projects, because sooner or later everyones work may find application. None of the repaints would satisfy everyone without any reservation and as KR says we can always find something to share.

@ Polak,
as always great job.You guys should work together, so much talents working separately, together can do more, better and faster IMHO.
Edit:

Why is that?

No worries at all. I sincerely meant the more the merrier. I think this is awesome and look forward to it. We all know Korea needs a facelift and the sooner we can get it the better. Plus you do good work :).

Great job guys. Its great to see Korea being refreshed with new, modern terrain tiles. One suggestion, for the three of you - Polak, King Richard, Tom Catz - and possibly others. When you have completed your respective projects, perhaps we could build F4 patch or single click installer that includes multiple tile packages. This would allow users to select their preferred package from the list, install, as well uninstall as required. Kind of like the old Free Falcon and Open Falcon days when the base Installer allowed the users to pick their preferred packages. But unlike those installers, this would be separate from the base BMS Installer.

Einfach geil !!!

Almost forgot about this…
It wouldn’t take much to whip up something like this for BMS, but IMO one cohesive terrain effort should prevail.
This was for FF of course, and before integrated season switching.

A nice GUI would be good, but it could be achieved very simply with a one line batch file for each version you wanted, and a desktop shortcut to each. ( As it only involves substituting one folder for another) I think? I use the same system to swap in and out config files in FSX, for when using different types of scenery. I can post the file text if anyone wants? will check later if it works.

Polak, how far are you (just the tiles, not elevation, not texturebin work)…just tiles?

Not quite understand why not texture.bin. Whenever I add some feature to the terrain, variationset, etc., new sets are involved and hence texture.bin changes. I do not change elevations, thought that we could use your work. Overal completion of tiles is 80% or maybe little more. I am working on the cities, which I find rather hard and slow. Airbases and other time consuming sets like roads and shores are done.
