Cougar mfds

Hello ShivAce
I can also recommend ChinaTobby - I ordered these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VGA-AV-signal-Driver-Borad-7inch-800-600-resolution-4-3-A070SN02-tft-lcd-display-/170877360368?
Bought them back in July and found that the 7 inch screens fit precisely into the back of the MFD Frame held snugly in place with the support struts clipped down. I found the 4:3 aspect screen works really well with the MFD Frame size.
Top/bottom is perfect screen/frame fit and there is only a small overlap of the screen bezel left/right of the frame but not distractingly so (paint bezel matt black if it bothers you) - I fixed the driver board and the LCD control board in place on the base and support strut just using double sided sticky foam pads. then ran the VGA cables to a graphics card as described by Stryker - they work beautifully and I am so pleased I got them instead of the 8 inch screens which I had considered. -
Oh great thank you for you answer, I will order them.
I have an other question, do I need 2 separate controller ? and would I need to box the card(s) controller to secure them( they come naked) or is there an outside box frame ?
Ah yeah and one more, for the Mfd’s should I get tft 8" 800:600 ? is 800:600 4:3 ?
@Icarus or @habu would you tell me what are the dimension of the CH MFP ? I couldn’t find it on their site

Gross dimensions of the CH panel are 24 cm high by 28 cm wide. You need a controller for each lcd panel. I simply attached the naked controller boards to the back of my plywood UFC/MFD base, using the screw holes in the PCB’s. I power each controller/panel set from a spare 12 volt power plug from my PC PSU with a little electrical work to extend the wires and attach the plugs for the controller boards purchased from an electronics supplier.

Hello ShivAce
You might want to look at these kits as the ones I bought had sold out some time ago:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VGA-AV-Lcd-controller-board-KYV-N2-V1-7inch-800-600-A070SN02-Lcd-panel-/360725515609?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53fcea8d59Download the spec-sheets and check the dimensions against the ones I bought in July
Controller
the item I included the link for came with screen and all the driver and controller boards needed - just connect directly to a VGA (or DVI with VGA Adapter) Graphics card and screen should be auto-detected by windows. I have not mentioned the power supply - each TFT Controller board needs a 12v DC supply - Ebay has these also - 12v 1 amp should easily drive both for example:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-12V-1-5A-UK-power-supply-AC-Adaptor-Transformer-for-LED-Strip-5050-3528-RGB-/190888866081?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Night_Lights_Fairy_Lights&hash=item2c71dcf121I used a splitter to drive both screens/controllers from one supply example:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Way-CCTV-DC-Power-Supply-Splitter-Adapter-Cable-for-12V-PSU-Security-Camera-UK-/161082665637?pt=UK_Gadgets&hash=item2581466aa5Cheaper than 2 supplies and only one wall socket needed!
Boxing
purely a cosmetic decision - I did not bother to box them - you do not really need to adjust anything on the TFT Controller once you have set up brightness and so on - as mentioned I was OK with just trapping the screen to the MFD frame with the frame support struts and double sided sticky foam pads to fix driver board and controller board to the MFD base/struts. The Power Supplies will keep the TFT driver boards powered even with PC off - the ‘standby’ LEDS on the Driver Board stay on even with PC shut down unless you unplug/switch off power supplies - this is perfectly normal -
Thanks for answer, but how deep is it ? I mean the height I can’t figure it out on screen, for the electrical work I think I would go for a separate power unit, I am really not that good in electronic and I did one year at uni >.<

CH Panel is about 15 mm in depth.

Hello ShivAce
I just checked the part number of the ChinaTobby screen that I included in my previous message:
and the TFT Screen is exactly the same as the one I bought - A070SN02 7 inch 800x600 4:3 aspect ratio - I can assure you that this fits precisely into the back of the TM MFD frame by placing behind the frame and clipping down the MFD support struts to the MFD base. Actually the driver/controller board HCR-N1 V4 is same as mine as well so ChinaTobby are selling the same kit but different listing number

Thanks for the update. I prefer to be sure before purchasing

CH MFP 9" x 11" outside of unit- 6.5 x 9 area usable for buttons. So the actual ICP on mine is 6.5 x 9.
Edit: Sorry Habu, didn’t see your post.

I
m guessing that you intend to create some kind of
pit` and so need 2 screens to allow proper position and separation etc otherwise there is nothing to prevent you placing the mfds on top of a single 2nd hand 15" ? monitor -
I have a second monitor but i use it for charts and planning mainly, and it wouldn’t fit between my legs. I intend to create a semi friendly pit with monitors for mfds and the ch mfp for icp nothing to crazy, but atm I am on a desk later on I ll try a to build a kind of pit to set it in the right place with all screen and seat.

Same… stuck at a desk. Here’s my “pit”:
I built a small wooden box to hold the LFT screens (and my ghetto ICP ). Simply used double-sided foam tape to hold the screens to the wood (including the controller boards on the back of the LFTs), and to hold the MFDs onto the screen bezels (perfect fit btw). I can move the MFD enclosure off to the right of my monitor when i’m not flying. Just need to work on lowering my throttle and flightstick… it’s not fantastic, but it’s good for now. Good luck!

A great many deaths have been had at this set up

Harlequin, it looks great, you made me think about a wooden frame! But what size of screen do you use ? It looks a bit big for the mfds.

Yeah, the screens are a little larger than the MFDs. The original plan was to hide them behind another piece of wood or plastic, but then the MFD controller gets too far off the surface. Lazy won over aesthetics and i left 'em as-is. I tried putting some additional gauges or info in the left over space, but it wasn’t worth it in the end. I’m pretty happy with this setup for now.
-
Is what i tought, using the spare space for gauge or other instruments. It looks good anyway

That’s what I currently do, works great: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?7663-Home-Made-Cockpits-Post-Yours!&p=212586&viewfull=1#post212586
