BMS on Mac
-
Hi all,
I’ve decided it’s time to jump back into the virtual cockpit after a long time away.
I have purchased F4AF for my Macbook Pro running Mavericks, could anyone tell me if BMS would be installable also? Also any other suggestions beyond Xplane 10 and Falcon 4.0 without having to pollute the system with Windows installation?
Thanks

I don’t know about VM under MacOS but I’m pretty sure you need the original Falcon 4 CD/install in order to set up BMS, as the BMS installer looks for that .exe file (not AF).
Personally, to be on the safe side with drivers/performance/configs (with multiple controllers/MFDs/TIR/HOTAS), I’d do a Windows dual boot, if it’s feasible in your situation.
Wellcome!

BMS won’t run on native mac. You indeed need a copy of original F4.exe (not AF version).
I ran BMS succesfully for 6 months in VMWare Fusion on my Mac, but the graphics were at a lower setting and FPS never got above 25.
Now changed to Bootcamp having major improvement on FPS at higher graphics settings.
My hardware specs of the Mac are in my signature below. -
Thank you for the quick replies guys.
Guess I will slap a Windows dual boot to make this work, and I’ll dig around I’m sure I have the original Falcon 4 cd somewhere.
Focaldesign what kind FPS do you get now? I have one of late '13 MBPs, 2GHz i7 with 16GB ram and Intel Iris Pro 1024 MB hopefully I can get a fluid performance even if have to turn the graphics down considerably. -
I’m betwee 45 and 55 mostly. Drops to 25/30 sometimes; eg when at for example Kimpo with a lot of 3D objects, or when a lot of deaggregated objects are around + TGP is on etc.

Running BMS with a BootCamped version of Windows is your best shot! The problem with VM’s is that your graphics card (soooooo needed for a nice FPS with all the candy) isn’t addressed native.
I run BMS 4.32.u6 on a (MAC Pro 3.1) BootCamped Windows 8 Pro x64 version with a EVGA 670 FTW 4GB. This combo reaches up to 60 FPS.GL & Fun with BMS
