if ur keyboard works but joystick does not, u should buy a new one. -

Sometimes I have the same problem, but it’s not because of my X-52. The key command for TMS-up does not work either, so it is a BMS glitch:

Had the same issue, tested problem , under training, “HARM.” TMS works fine, in short missions, not focused primarily on taking out radar, however, after launching over two HARMS, will not allow lock properly . The bug, some of you call it, immediately vanishes, after the target in question is selected. Strange. However, if TMS is held, then the AGM is launched, the HARM will make its way. Not normal , I say. For sure.
I relieved that its not just my personal experience. LOL.

I had the same issue with AGM88s. On the HAD. TMS works perfect in the training mission, but in the campaign or a TE created mission, TMS won’t lock unless you hold it down then fire the 88. Hold it down a while longer just for good measure, but I almost always need two 88s to attack radars.

If you hold down TMS forward during CRM-RWS FCR mode does it maintain the 10-degree spotlight mode while it’s held down?

Sorry to necro this thread, but I still have this problem, and it doesn’t appear resolved.
Frederf, I am able to get the spotlight mode while I hold tms up, but when I let go it breaks the lock. This doesn’t happen on all flights but on enough that it’s a nuisance. Lately I’ve had this problem when I carry harms or shrikes, but I haven’t tested yet to see if this is always the case.

So, to be clear, I am not the OP (so I can’t answer why he uses mouse button 1 as TMS UP) but my ultimate problem is the same. I use a TM Warthog and TMS UP is mapped to… my TMS hat, as it should be. It works most of the time, but about 1/3 of my flights I get a bug that doesn’t allow TMS UP to lock the target under the radar cursor in any mode (AA or AG). Mapped key command has the same effect. There is an initial blink with proper symbology, but it immediately unlocks as if I pushed TMS DOWN.
Unfortunately, there is no way to know if the bug is present until you’re in the air and you try to bug a target.
There are other similar posts on other forums, so I know others have this issue, but I haven’t seen any ways to correct the problem. Limited testing shows the problem is more likely when carrying HARMS or SHRIKES. I have played for years with no issues and this “bug” seems to have come up in the last couple months for me. I don’t think it’s related to anything I’m doing or not doing.
Anyone know of a fix?

I had it in a GMT mission last week too. Lock on GMT wouldn’t stay. Then I switched to A-A mode and had the same issue with airborne contacts. Switching in/out MRM mode and back to NAV master mode and then getting back to A-A mode fixed the issue (but damn those contacts whre frakking close by then!).

*** POSSIBLE FIX ***
Toggle LEFT HARDPOINT to on, or ensure you turn it on during the ramp start. LEFT HARDPOINT when SHRIKES (AGM-45s) or HARMS (AGM-88s) are loaded seem to affect the radar operability in all modes for me. It will show a momentary lock and immediately unlock. BORE mode will repeatedly try to lock with Betty announcing “LOCK, LOCK, LOCK….”I was able to reproduce this issue in the F-16I - CFT in the BfS theater, so not sure if this pertains to all or some F-16 versions. I know I’ve seen this in -40 airframes as well.
Hope this helps!

+1, we also had this bug in a flight in our squad. Basically, not powering the left hardpoint when you have AGM-88 (even without HAS) will cause a nearly permanent TMS-down. A dirty hack from the old days….
Workaround is indeed to always power the left hardpoint with 88’s on.

Regarding above 3 posts, I had this issue without AGMs in my loadout. So probably not root cause?
