Toto's Helios BMS Profile WIP
-
I’ve (mostly) finished the front panel of my Helios profile. Next I’m going to add the left and right consoles as well as buttons for checklists and custom user images. Please feel free to try it out and provide me any feedback or suggestions. I use it with a 22" touchscreen monitor at 1920 x 1080.
One thing I haven’t figured out how to do is set some of the buttons to be pushed by default (e.g., master arm, catI/III, radar, CMDS mode/profile, etc.), so you’ll have to set up your normal starting configuration before you are in the 3D world.
You can download it here:

That is sweet! Wish I had me a touchscreen now. I have a 26" monitor that sits right in front of me when I’m flying and that would work perfectly, but a touch screen for that cost a lot.
I use a 22" ViewSonic TD2220. You can get it for about US$300. It works pretty well, but can be overly sensitive sometimes. I haven’t found any better for the price and size.

Are you having no issues using your touchscreen as secondary monitor ? I.E getting the touches to register within bms 3D
-
No, works great for me. Gadroc’s instructions for setting up a touch screen seem to work pretty well.

your BMS screen has finally convinced me to try Helios and buy a touchscreen. I will probably get the same one that you have, but I do have one question. I am running Win 7 and will Helios and this monitor all work nicely with Win 7? That is, will the touch feature of the monitor work in Win 7? -
From Gadroc’s web page I recall that Helios was designed and tested on Win7, both 32 and 64 bit. He says it should work on XP. In any case it depends on the .NET 4.0 framework from Microsoft being installed first.

I still get a stray mouse click in the 3D put every now and again when manipulating the touch screen. Hope there is a way in future versions of BMS to turn off mouse clicks all together.

I didn’t see a txt file in the download. Did I miss it? What Hotas are you using and if you are using a TM WH, could you send me the profile.
Thanks -

ThanksSobe, sorry I forgot to include the .txt file in the .7z file. It’s included now: https://googledrive.com/host/0BzQQUC…Helios_v0.1.7z

404. That’s an error. The requested URL was not found on this server. That’s all we know.

Try the link in post 5. I think that works

Toto
Okay. Got the text file. What HOTAS do you use? If a Warthog, can you please send me your profile.
Thanks -
I use the cougar, but most of my profile is DX buttons so you should be fine using your existing warthog profile if it is DX. The included .key file is simply a modification of the .bms key file and is required to make the Helios profile work correctly.

Toto, I can’t get you MFDs and Up front controller push buttons to work. I wonder what I’m doing wrong? I need to set the Helios add interface key file to yours, right? The one in the user/config/ folder?

Just drop the Toto_Helios.key file in your user/config folder and make sure to load it in BMS. You shouldn’t have to do anything to my Helios profile except run it.

Thanks Toto. I got it working. I think the issues was that it was not picking up the correct key profile in the configuration folder in bms. I seemed to have fixed it, and it works. Good profile; I like the push button nature of it. Thanks for making and sharing it. One question if I may: I am next turning my attention to a good Warthog profile for the hotas, as I have a thrustmaster warthog. I am assuming, and correct me if I’m wrong here, that I will take the key file of the profile I get, and use enable that in the setup. I do not have to use ‘Toto-key’ in the configuration? Or it doesn’t matter? Can you recommend a good warthog hotas profile? Thanks.
Regards,
Apoll

I use a cougar, so I can’t help you too much. I use a mostly DX buttons so I don’t need to really program my cougar unless I want to use the pinky switch as a modifier. You should be able to program most of your warthog in falcon by clicking on the command in the key file in setup then pressing the button you want to use.
