Burner's Harpoon MOD Pilot Legs Tutorials

This was posted on the BMS forums about some error installing this: “I had the same issue. it is a corrupted Microsoft .Net Framework. Click on that in your “Add/Remove Programs” and it should give you the option to “Repair file” I did that and it fixed my problem. Everything works fine now.” Try reinstalling Net Framework

Thanks to Harpoon for the Pilot Body and Jomla for the Korea kneeboard maps!
did Jomla create the kneeboard? or did he converted from work somebody else did?
-
Have now repaired my MS Net Framework 4 programmes, but same result. I’m suspicious about the Mode Texture Vertex dialog box appearing (and it showing nothing in this box) - I couldn’t see that in your vid. I’m also not seeing any “change in appearance” after clicking on the Different Size dialog warning - it just goes back to the usual LOD screen.

@Red:

Hee RD, i use the kneeboard updater also and it has 2 options
1)use a own jpg that the program converts and uses in the 8019.dds
2)point the updater to the WDP datacard directory and it will use the created datacard from WDP and then convert that to 8019.ddsThe program only exports the 8019.dds to the default korea object theater. (no other theaters so you have to copy paste or do workaround with MKlink files)
As work around for other theaters i did the following:
create a MKlink shortcuts that points to the default korea directory 8018.dds
in this way every theather is using the same 8019.dds file (the default korea directory)-goto the campaign objects folder where you want to create the 8019.dds file
-open from there a dosbox
-create a mklink to the default korea object 8019.dds (where the origin is)for example:
your dosprompt is in:
d:\Falcon BMS\Data\Add-On Israel\terrdata\Israel\objects\KoreaObjthen next command will make a mklink to stock korea directory:
mklink /h 8019.dds D:\Falcon BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj\8019.dds -
Thanks Spit
AFAIK, there’s no 8018.dds in the default install. that one is installed/ converted with harpoon pilot’s
So my question remainswhen i read this:
and Jomla for the Korea kneeboard maps!
and i see my work being modified and used,
http://www.candyparty.com/ST/Download/Checklists/BMS/maps/Korea_ONC_tacanranges.png
I kind of have hairs going straight in the back of my neck !!i have no problem with the files being used, matter of fact i gave harpoon permission in the past for some files, because he was kind enough to ask
but crediting other ppl makes me go mmmh -
yup true,
i think i missed that. Also saw that i was talking about 8018 (which is the pilot body) and i ment 8019 (kneemaps). -
In some earlier threads, someone talked about omitting the step where you select LOD 82… could this have something to do with this not working for me?
-
Red Dog, thanks for creating the original map I didn’t realize that. I thanked Jomla for creating the dds kneeboard picture including freqs for both Korea and Israel.

82 only applies to the Korea theatre.
-
No luck with this either. Followed instructions to the dot. Repaired .NET framework, still no legs. giving up

For which theatre did you try this for?
Are u running LOD editor in Administrator mode? -
I just started flying BMS so I dont have any other theaters or mods than what the release already comes with. So only the default Korean theater. And yes, I am running the LOD editor as administrator. Im running Win 7 64-bit so I’ve tried running it in different compatibility modes and still no legs.
-
As per last poster, running W7/64, Korea theatre - MS Net Framework updated. No legs, no change in appearance of LOD, and this extra screen after confirming replacing the dds files (Mode Texture Vertex etc). Real shame since this such a good mod, but seems no-one can help…
-
I installed the pilot legs and kneemap yesterday (W7/64) and it worked fine. I even installed the full pilot body at first by mistake but replaced it with only legs later.
I used Burners install method in post 1 to the point.(Thanks again Burner)1. !!!Create a backup of files (not folders) in: \Falcon BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects!!!
2. Put 8018.dds and 8019.dds files in \BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj
3. Open LOD Editor, enter ‘2’ in the box next to ‘normal’
4. Click on ‘normal’, then ‘1’ under “Edit”
8. Click on ‘Select LOD’
9. ***Select LOD no. 82, Click ‘ok’ in the pop-up dialog box.
10. Select Action Append/replace texture
11. Select 8018.dds and seperately8019.dds
12. Click on ‘Action’ replace model
13. Choose ‘onlylegs.lod’ from the archive.
14. When the LE changes appearance you can close it down.
15. Enjoy your new body!Remember, do not select LOD no. 82 in step 9 but just click “ok” in the “Select LOD” pop-up after step 8 to close the popup. First time i tried to install i skipped step 8 or just closed the pop-up, by clicking the red cross or cancel(i can’t remember excactly) but that didn’t work. I noticed if you do not click “ok”, the LOD data screen does not change but it does after clicking “ok”.
Edit:
I just tested without clicking “ok” but closing the “Select LOD” pop-up by clicking the red cross in the upper right corner of the popup and then i also get the Node Texture Vertex Edit box, so that might be the problemAfter that perform step 10 and 11 twice, once for 8018 dds and twice for 8019 dds
Make sure to choose the right option from the action menu, i myself made that mistake more than once :uham:
You should indeed not get the Node Texture Vertex Edit box, at least i did not get it, there should only be the box which indicates de dds is replaced. So no problems in W7/64 here and just for info i have frameworks 4.5.1 installed.
I know you’re an experienced Falcon Driver and i guess you used LE more than i did so it might be a stupid question, but did you copy mfc71.dll and msvcr71.dll to the windows/system and system32 directories?
So far my thoughts, maybe it helps,Greetz Terminator

If you put the dds files right into the Korea.obj folder, then you can skip step 10 and 11. (As an added note, you can select more than one .dds file at a time)
Perhaps an easier way to do the same:
1. !!!Create a backup of files (not folders) in: \Falcon BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects!!!
2. Put 8018.dds and 8019.dds files in \BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj
3. Open LOD Editor, enter ‘2’ in the box next to ‘normal’
4. Click on ‘normal.’ Then above the ‘LOD Indexes’ box, click ‘Edit Mode’ once and it should change to ‘Replace Mode’
5. Click on ‘1’ then select ‘onlylegs.lod’ from the archive.
6. When the LE changes appearance you can close it down.
7. Enjoy your new body! -
Thx Terminator and Pumpyhead… Will try again when I get home. I had only copied the dll files to the System 32 folder so maybe an issue there.
-
Using Pumpyhead’s routine above worked as far as getting the 3d Viewer in LOD to show the new legs/kneepads, however, when I run Falcon now the program crashes as soon as I try to load up a TE. If I switch theatre, then everythings fine e.g. Israel, but I now can’t get Korea to work at all. Even trying to play an ACMI file in Korea crashes it.
Someone please help!
(And no, I didn’t back up the Objects folder - I mistakenly only backed up the KoreaObj folder)
-
I didn’t try Pumpyhead’s routine but know for sure the original method works as long as you click the “ok” button in the “select lod” pop-up. So don’t select LOD no. 82, just click ‘ok’ in the pop-up dialog box. Maybe if you try the original method it restores the fault……
I don’t know a lot about LOD editor but mayby Pumpyhead can clear things up:
If you put the dds files right into the Korea.obj folder, then you can skip step 10 and 11
I don’t understand this because step 2 of the Original method is:
2. Put 8018.dds and 8019.dds files in \BMS\Data\Terrdata\objects\KoreaObj\
I can’t see the difference so why not perform the steps “Append/replace texture” for both dds files. to add them.

Might have totally porked things by now, but when I get to clicking on 1 under Edit, I’ve got 7318 in the box. If I put in 82 and click OK, then it says that the model can’t be loaded. If I leave 7318 and click OK, then I can finish the routine, and the legs/kneepads show up in the 3D Viewer OK, but the game crashes if I stay in Korea.
Anyone got a copy of the Korea Objects folder they could post up (without KoreaObj folder)?
-
Got a copy from a squad-mate and tried again - this time it works! (Had to change the Select LOD box to 82).
