SA2 launching at me and not appearing in HAS
-
Happens once in a while. See 2-SA2’s in rwr yet in HAS those SA2’s are not there meaning I am unable to engage with AGM88 and I am then downed. Other SA2 and SA3 are in HAS. Weird. Check out the pic and you can see the missile about to impact my F16 with no 2 symbol directly in front where launch occurred.

I don’t mean to be harsh, but the pics don’t really prove much cptmtge. I see the missile launching at the F-16 behind you and you flying in between it’s flight path (you should declutter your RWR to see if it’s covered by the other mud spikes). But what you describe can happen. You may get an initial launch warning and then think it was defeated but it’s still tracking on you… or maybe no launch warning. You should get one in Falcon for an SA-2 but I wouldn’t call it a bug.
The RWR isn’t supposed to be 100% accurate either… in Falcon it is a hundred times more all knowing than the real RWR. You should still rely on your eyes doing visual sweeps and be on the look out for launches.
Also, just because your HTS or HAS isn’t picking up an emitting SA-2 (although I see it on your HAS in the pic), doesn’t mean it isn’t emitting. It just means your jet/HARM/HTS isn’t picking it up. You’ll find many times you may see it emitting/yellow but your wingman sees it green or doesn’t see it.

Just like in real life, technology is not magic. Some things just don’t work as advertised.
I too had in quite a few occasions thought I had beatan an SA2, just because the RWR was not screaming and showing a circle around the 2. Then a few seconds later I go down in flames… -
thanks for the responses and thank GOD you didn’t request an ACMI yet the point is I am being tracked and downed by an SA2 directly in front and below me less than 10 miles while the tracking radar (fan song B) is not appearing in my HAS and my rwr in PRIORITY mode is not showing it either. DEMO the SA2 would appear in HAS right in the middle and the other sams are well off azimuth and far away. I am simply reporting the facts and until a meaningful response based upon the facts laid out I do believe this actually happened and may be a glitch. I have been playing every version of F4 since it came out. As shocking as it sounds I know what I am talking about, proved it with that pic, and am simply reporting the facts that actually happened. Anybody else been in the same situation of being tracked and downed by SA2 while being unable to target it with AGM88 in HAS?

First of all, DEMO is correct. Second of all, are you playing music during all of this? Third, HAS can be a great way to slew your SAM, but I use HADs. Strictly because I can select the range to which I can launch from (and even with that, SAM’s can often not show up in HADs either). I prefer HADs to also plan my attack with SAMs with respect to target distance and current steerpoint headings. One more thing. You can launch the HARM with nothing locked up. That’s right! Nothing locked up. Shoot the HARM and “go defensive” in that situation. The HARM will home on the nearest emitter. Hopefully, it is the one that has locked you up and fired. It works well, but even that can go wrong.

A pic does not prove anything, and while I’m confident there is no glitch here, if you are submitting a bug report, please follow the instruction we (BMS) provide here. You have posted pics before to try and prove an issue and I’m telling you that won’t get any attention from us if you don’t put in a good faith effort to submit a good report. Thanks

Hi cptmtge
Yes it does happen. I notice it while using HAD though.
In HAS I don’t expect the ARM to be able give a reliable directional indication even while flying in a non maneuvering manner.
As you probably know Harm As Sensor is only using a relatively small directional receiving dish and has limits.I would not plan to be at 21k feet & only 10nm from suspected SAM sites. No where to go from there.
How does Demo know its launching at the F-16 behind you ?
I didn’t think you were making a bug report ?I prefer the AGM-45 for close work.
