Joystick Recommendation

Hello everyone,
I’m new to Falcon 4.0 BMS and I would like to ask here which Hotas System you can recommend. Thanks for your answers in advance! Cheers Seba

TM HOTAS Cougar with FCC3 mod. You can’t come closer to the real controls
-
If you want a very cheap one (under/at $50), I’d recommend the Thrustmaster T16.000m over the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro; because Hall sensors beat potentiometers in accuracy and durability.

What about the Saitek Pro Flight X-55 Rhino as the Cougar isn’t available on Amazon…

You can find still find Cougars on eBay etc. Often also in good condition. Where are you located?

I’m living in Berlin / Germany… I was thinking about the Warthog but 310.00 EUR is quite expensive or?

Expensive? I do not know…much money, yes. (Even earlier cougar’s were never few money.)
And, you will need IMHO rudders (or you maybe can “hack” a button).Pers. I’m still on my Thrustmaster HOTAS-X, but if I had changed my Hotas, I think it will be the Warthog, because it has only very few bad critics and is “getable”<lg>.
The best thing is to get a TM-Cougar[1], but IMHO you have to know how a used Hotas works (repair / (normally) no more warranty)).[1] The cougar has the buttons it needs at the rigth places with a perfect handling[2]…no “extra” unnecessary lights, or such. Only a true Hotas. IMHO…
[2] Not to hard, not to soft, ca. 15 years ago I had one…I think you must know, what you want, what worth it is (it has for you). If you have a bad feeling, because of much money (for e.g. the Warthog), then you will have no (real) joy.
But if much money is being worth for your hobby, then it is pure joy (and AFAIK for a long time). It is your turnGreeting
Earlybite</lg> -
Earlybite is right. The Warthog looks like it’s worth the money. I didn’t use it myself but some of my squadron mates use it. Drawback is it’s not like the real thing (it’s modeled after the controls in the A10), but you get a good piece of hardware for your money and there are profiles to get it close to F16 controls.
With a Cougar you get the “real” thing, but to bring it to a technically high level you have to mode it, with an FCC3 for example. The origin gimbal in a Cougar are very weak constructed, so they wear out the longer you use it. And you have to be lucky to find them.
To be honest, everytime i find a Cougar on eBay or second-hand-markets on the net i buy them, repair them and sell them because they are still much in demand for …

The cougar is wonderfull, the immersion in priceless!
Sorry for the OT: Reaper, check PM!

TM HOTAS Cougar with FCC3 mod. You can’t come closer to the real controls
LOL, for a thousand dollars, sure.
My floppy Cougar sits in a box.
Superseded by the far more reliable and versitile x65f.

Indeed a nice HOTAS and i like the use of forcesensing, good job done by Saitek there. But neither the look nor the feel are near the original F16 controls.
The origin gimbals of the Cougar are the weak point, without question. But 1000 USD? You get a second-hand Cougar with already sloppy gimbals for around 200 USD, you get FCC3 for around 450, that makes 650 USD for a HOTAS close to the real. Far from your thousand bucks
For me a clear thing what i would get …. and have already.

Thanks for your answers. I just ordered the Thrustmaster Warthog…

Good decision
Have fun and don’t let put you off by the sometimes tricky setup with BMS

I use Morphine’s profile with my WH. It works great and is easy to set up.
