IVC window must be active for F1 F2 F3?
-
Hey people
I have been trying to set up IVC b/w my 2 computers to test before i try MP. Both computers are on wireless cards. I ve been through the manual now for a few hours and I have it working. The problem is that when BMS is running i have to minimize it and make the IVC window active in order to transmit. I m sure this is not the way its supposed to work. The manual says to use the /k command at the dos prompt to hook the F keys to IVC but i can only do that on the server side and that doesnt seem to help any way. Any help would be appreciated.

First instinct is that Windows is inhibiting cross-application control in the name of security. Try running any permutation of administrator rights on the game and IVC.
There are ways to run IVC command line parameters for clients too but assuming normal pilot use the “start the game and connect and let Falcon spawn IVC and connect for you” should be the best.

Thanks for the quick reply. Bms is running under administration control. Does IVC fall under that? I m not sure. I have IVC to work in the 2D map but once in game no joy

At what stage do you loose ability to transmit ? Lobby, 2D, 3D ? Problem exists on both server and client pc ? The hook feature ends when the connection is made according to manual.

Once in game (3D) world, F1, F2 for IVC control no longer works, this is normal.
They are only active in 2D world.Once “in pit” use your comm1 & comm 2 keys to transmit on IVC.

F1 and F2 are the default com1 com2 keys when in pit. Are the com1 com2 keys also the PTT Keys for IVC once in the cockpit? Maybe i am misunderstanding the operation of IVC. Is IVC designed to be used as an in game voice com b/w players on its own? Or do you have to use it with another external program like TS?
cobalt- in the 2D map all works well. In the cockpit no IVC
Com 1 307.30 for preset ch 16
Com 2 123.40 for preset ch 1Both freqs match on each aircraft in the cockpit. (Using 2 computers loaded with BMS to test this)

The best debug is to have someone looking at the IVC_Server.exe output window and reporting push to talk activations. Just “if you hear someone” is a bad technique for debugging as too many other issues can prevent that.

Perhaps my wording lead to confusion sorry.
Comm 1 & Comm 2 buttons, on the ICP, are used to set the preset / frequency of the respective radios.
You use a separate PTT key/button for UHF / VHF transmit once in the pit. -

When I hit the F1 or the F2 key, by default it brings up Com 1, Com 2 respectively on the DED which I am familiar with. Just to clarify the F1, F2 keys are NOT also the PTT keys once in the pit?

LOL, I’m currently gonna try and set up a third Computer to test this for that reason.
Thanks guys, I’ve been at this for quite a few hours now and I’m sure I’m missing something simple here.

The default keys are UHF home, VHF end
Just go to the set up / controller page and scroll down to the throttle section. There you will see what keys are assigned

testing now:)
:D:D That was it!!! Thanks Badger you made my day. I didn’t see any mention of that in the BMS manuals that they were the push to talk buttons. Again I was only looking at the IVC set up. I’m sure it’s mentioned some where in the radios expanded section. Looking at the controls in the throttle section I still wouldn’t have figured that out by the phraseology.
Just in time too. Got to go do the honey do list for a few hours.
Thanks again
