Extreme 3D Pro rudder sensitivity
-
My 3D pro joystick uses the twist for the rudder. However just the slightest offset in flight seems to kick the nose left or right. The problem is that the twist seems to have play in it so just touching the stick seems to mess it up. I have had it for ages so I know how to play around it. Just wondering if anyone has worked out how to create a dead zone for the twist. The Logitech software doesn’t work.

It’s not something I can test right now but since rudder input not really needed for flight is it not possible to configure nose wheel steering but have rudder set to keyboard in setup.
-
I could do, I suppose. How do you set up nose wheel steering?

I have a 2nd suggestion. Go into controls/advanced and set a sensitivity deadzone from medium to large for rudder and your issue should be gone.

Setup, advanced, flight control, Enable roll linked NWS. Set rudder to keyboard. This could be completely bogus its just a vague memory but if the dead zone option doesn’t fix it worth the try.
The more I think about the more I reckon I`m wrong but unable to test today and reading the original issue again dead zone will surely fix it since the error is equal both directions. May as well set to MAX as you will only need input for ground steering.

i use the same controller and cobaltUK is right. in advanced flight control set rudder to keyboard.
this means you can input keys and joystick buttons to rudder.
i set the pov HAT to rudder but you can assign it to whatever you want.
enable roll link NWS. on ground you will steer wheels with roll. and in the air you rudder with the Hat.
I too couldn’t fly straight enough to land before i did this. and after flying this way for a while i realize i hardly ever use the rudder.also in config under hardware there is an enable virtual rudder box. i dont know if this helps any for this situation i cant remember if i used that or not.
i had very little success adjusting dead zone with bms or Logitech setup

‘large’ isn’t a big enough window in the sensitivity settings. I had to open up the grip on the stick to get access to the pot, and drop a dab of hot glue on one side of the lever on the pot. The lever rides in a groove in the handle, and gets really sloppy after awhile so the glue tightens it up in the grip while still allowing a tiny bit of give while rotating.

I had the same problem with mine, and like MaddogK says, it’s worn out. So here are my (non-professional) suggestions.
1. If you feel comfortable with trying MaddogK’s fix, I would give it a go. Seems like a good option if you want to keep using the twist.
2. What starrat suggested is also doable if a workaround is ok with you. My opinion is that roll link NWS is no less realistic than a stick twist for rudder application, and I did this for a while when mine wore out.
3. You can still buy this very inexpensive stick at most retailers that have an electronics dept. for around $35 USD.
4. You can upgrade to a HOTAS (my choice) and wonder how the heck you made it this far with a joystick.
Of course, the best option is also the most expensive option, but in life (and sims) you get what you pay for. If money is an issue, I’d say 1 & 2 are your best options.
Best of luck!

You should download logitechs profiler and set the twist sensativity lower that fixed the twist rudder for me, deadzone about 25%
