Falcon Startup Default Logbook Issues
-
So this is something that is new to me and is rather aggravating as I have to reset all my settings every time I run Falcon which often means I have to back out during flights to fix this or that setting, (i.e. flight controls, resolution, logbook).
So I’m hoping someone can tell me how to go in and setup the defaults loaded by falcon at startup because I’m drawing a blank. Basically, everytime I start falcon it loads up the default logbook (Viper) and resets all my settings forcing me to change everything prior to a flight and if i forget just one thing I could be flying with my throttle as my rudder, or no toe brakes, or the wrong resolution… The list I’m sure will continue to expand.
This is kind of new as it happened after my initial install got pooched somehow and I had to reinstall.
I’ve tried deleting the Viper profile but it just regenerates it each time I run Falcon and loads it up anyway.
This is quite frustrating and I would really like to know how I can fix this.

Create a new Pilot name and save it. Exit and re-start, your new pilot should be loaded. If not click the drop down and select it instead of Viper. (The sim will always regenerate the default pilot)
For your controls, check to make sure your DeviceSorting.txt is in the correct order. (BMS Manual p50.) https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?26697-Your-device-numbers-shifted-in-U1
Setup your control settings and once done go into the following files and change them to “read only”;
C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Config\axismapping.dat
C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Config\joystick.calThis way the control settings will not change.
Hope that helps.

The default logbook is Joe “Viper“ Pilot.
Click NEW to create a new pilot entry and type a new pilot callsign and a new pilot name in the relevant boxes. Then click OK.
Additional info is found in the ‘BMS-Manual.pdf’ (see section 10.7) which is located in the game directory “BMS4.33 U1>Docs>Falcon BMS Manuals” folder.
