Key file for Saitek SST profile?
-
Hello,
Now that my x52 is working again, i would like to create a profile with the SST profile editor.
The idea is to have a start/landing/navigation mode, an AA mode and an AG mode using the 3 modes of the x52. I am familiar with the SST software and know how to map buttons etc. But i am a bit confused about the key files. The bms.key seems to be the standard key file, but some essential functions have no keys assigned, so i can’t map them in the SST editor. The keystrokes.key file seems to have keys assigned for almost all of the essential functions, so i am assuming, that this is the proper file to use for my purpose, however i can’t find the nose wheel steering when i load the keystrokes.key file.
So before i start to completeley mess up my controls i wanted to ask if i am just missing something.
Also i noticed that the keymaps provided with the documents are completely different from the actual key assignings in game. Is that normal or is my installation messed up?Greetings and thanks in advance
D_FensEdit: Now i’m completely lost. When i’m in the setup screen and i have the keystrokes.key loaded it says Wpn-Missile Hardpoints cycle but in the sim itself it still activates the NWS like it does with the BMS.Key. Is that supposed to happen?
Edit again: Sry. I guess after 3 posts i have already earned my place on the wall of shame:oops:
I was not aware that the same key combination can actually have two complete different functions depending on the situation. I think i will just use on of the profiles available here on the forums till i have a better understanding of the controls. -
As I guess you’ve found, Missile Step IS NWS …. and missile step … and bomb mode cycle … and AAR disconnect … and …? It’s an amazing little button.
For the key file, look in your user folder. Koble has 2 spreadsheets which have most of the call backs. Some of these are for functions that may not be in either Keystrokes.key or BMS.key. I believe one of those spreadsheets is intended for you to build a custom keyfile, but I have not used it.
C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Joystick\Generic\Kolbe
My opinion is that Keystrokes.key is more like the old Falcon key layout and that BMS.key is more oriented toward a HOTAS keyfile.

Thanks for the reply,
For now i am using the profile you have postetd in the other thread. It seems to be very “functional” and intuitive, thanks a lot for sharing.
I just have one question are the keybindings for the keyboard the same as in the picture Hard~Deck has posted in his original thread? -

The keyfile is very similar to Hard~Decks, but not identical. With the differences in the Saitek profile, I had to make corresponding changes to the keyfile. There is also some customization that I had made for ramp start, the ICP and pan views. Unfortunately none of that is very well documented (sorry …. ).
