Creating a TE with 2 different planes
-
You have to use different type of F-16s because ingame even an AC have more than one skin palette all AC get the same selected one.

sorry, i have no idea what you mean. can you explain exactly what i need to do to get 2 different planes in one TE?

He means when you choose a skin for a type of AC (F16 C-50, for example) that is the skin YOU see for all F16C-50, but if the other person on the other computer chooses a different skin, the different skin is what they see for all F16C-50.
IOW, you choose the Red skin, and all AC of that type will have Red skin on your PC. Other PC chooses Blue skin, all AC of that type have Blue skin on THAT PC.
And then there’s ‘license plate’ …. which I don’t understand, but might allow you to have some difference between two AC skins that is ‘persistent’, regardless of user.
2 kinds of planes in 1 TE, means making another flight or package. Flight #1 = F16C-50, for example and Flight #2 = F16C-52.

thanks for explaining. so the first sentence above is not what i want. the whole point is i need to see both red and blue planes on my computer so i know who is who. its hard to tell in orbit and sat views.
i’ll looked for this ‘license plate’ thing but didn’t see anything in the manuals
i just made a new TE with 2 flights, 1x f16 in each of different colors
when i run the TE in MP mode, i see the 2x f16s, different colors, but one takes off by its self, so i guess the AI is controlling that.i still don’t know how to get 1 flight with 2xf16s in different colors in MP mode, one controlled by me, the other by the other guy. any ideas anyone?
thx

What is so hard to undersand….?
1. One type of AC can have only the same skin even you can choose more. All AC get the selected skin.
2. To get F-16s with different skin you have to use different F-16s. For Ex. F-16C Block 52 and F-16C Block 42. Likely they do not have shared textures therefore you can add different skin from them because the stock skins are not so different only tail markings.
3. There are F-16 Agressor in DB as I can remember… -

Yep.
And hene, you can’t put those two a/c in the same flight. Must create two diferent flights (from diferent squadron) which can be in the same package.

Strange but long time ago during FreeFalcon era the game somehow loadout in campaign Su-24 with different skins. I have no idea how could happened because theoretically was impossible in all Falcon.* It happened only once of FF forum I uploaded a picture. Sadly I do not have it anymore.
*Except now some AC in BMS4 but they do not have different skin only their tailmarks and numbers are different the rest of skin is shared.

i made a new TE. i added a squadron then added a flight with 1 f16. then i added another squadron using different f16 then added a flight with 1 f16.
when i start the game (MP or single player) i see the 2 different f16s on the taxiway (not on the runway, don’t know why as i set the clock time in the TE at 9:00:05), anyhow, BUT
!!! the first f16 i created just takes off by its self. it doesn’t wait for an MP connection.
what i am missing here?
thanks

Set the starting time of TE before the takeoff at least 3 min… Time is on the right upper corner…

i’ve given up on trying to make different color planes, but i would like to get labels working.
when i enable labels, it simply says ‘viper’ for both planes. is there a way to get ‘cowboy 1 1’ and 'cowboy 1 2 ’ displayed?
oh, i’ve just realized, maybe i need to change user name on the 2 computers

You do not understand even the basics of game…? OMG…
The labels show you callsign in Logbook…
If you wish to different skin use any F-16C AMD F-16 Agressor in TE on different sides. That is all.
Is really so hard…?

u can’t just like that. To have different ones if the model has another texture set u can declare it in the camo.cfg there is info in Mission commander by Falcas.
From the info in MC CAMO TAB:
Camouflage override feature. Now is possible to override default texture set computation and specify exact texture set for sqadron via txt cfg file called camo.cfg in campaingn/save folder (each theter can have its own)
Format of camo.cfg:
First line is number of specified sqadrons (max 256).
Then each sqaudron is defined on 1 line by 3 numbres.
first is team id - usualy US is 1 ROK is 2.
Second number is sqadron name like 80 or 161 for example.
And last number is desired texture set for sqadron.Note: Skin sets is counted from 0.
Team ID or sqadron name can be obtained from TACEDIT util and texture sets from checking squadron AC in LODED.
eaxample for SP4:2
2 161 0
1 80 3It is add rokaf skin for USAF 80th and add USAF skin to ROKAF 161th (in sp4 not know in FF3)
Open Falcon beta 4.3 skinset (as setted above):
13th F-16-50 ww red
14th F-16-50 WW yellow
35th F-16-40 WP blue
36th F-16-40 OS
80th F-16-30 WP yellow
510th F-16-40 buzzards
555th F-16-40 triple nickel
25th A-10 OS
75th A-10 FT (green camo)
131th A-10 MA
67th F-15C ZZ -

no, i just haven’t used multiplayer before but i get it now.
so i have the 2 callsigns showing up just fine now.
Arty, i read your post but i wonder if its more than i need right now.
i’m thinking, since some models can have different texture sets (F-16D-40) that would be enough for my needs. the only bit i really want to change is the pilots name below the cockpit. not sure how to do that yet, but looking.
i notice in LOD editor, if i open F-16D-40 and click on ‘view LOD text’, i see it has 6 texture sets. right now i’m taking over the F-16C-TB model which only has one set. i guess if i repaint the F-16D-40 model and use that, i can use its extra sets for my different pilots

No. You can select from mutiple skin sets for a specific AC type but all AC from this specific type get the same skin regardless which side they are flying. This is why you need different type of F-16. The only difference for some AC - which have got the “license plate” upgrade that tail nubers and other markings can be different in the same flight but the paint scheme is the same for all AC.

i would be happy with the “license plate” upgrade for my app if i can put a pilot name (text) below the cockpit as well as the tail number. do you know how to enable that?, doesn’t seem to be anything in the docs about it that i can find.

It is not possible. AC with “license plates” have a unique skin part and depending on the selected flight member one part of this skin is selected which is projected on the specified surface part. If you check the 3656.dds you will understand the method.
