BMS Family Feud time!

Survey says…
Of those that routinely do a ramp start… how many do it from memory, and how many use a checklist?
I’m still using a list, but feel that soon I should be able to do without… -
I can do it from memory and get a combat-ready F16, even though I’m probably missing a (critical) check here and there. From what I’ve read on these boards, that might bite me in the … in upcoming versions, though, so I will probably have to start running the list again.
-
I use the “Three Sweep” checklist from the manual. I’m sure it will change once the next version is released but I have lots of time I think…
-
I’m sure that technically one should always use a physical check-list, but suspect most (the ‘average’ BMS-er) does if from memory.
-
Memory. And that’s not a brag; a good pilot will use a checklist every time even if he knows it like the back of his hand.
If you do enough starts and know the systems from many uses there is no longer any anxiety from ramp starts. “Oh no, I hope I remember how to do it” quickly becomes “Ugh, this chore again.” The only anxiety is wondering if you missed one thing in more complex (usually combat-related) setup that will inconvenience you later.

Memory. If it were RL, checklist

Memory.
Learned it by heart some time ago. Now… Used to do it just like when I start my car.

Been doing it for so long, I can’t get it out of my head.

Operating an airplane is most of the time done on memory, checklists are an important reference and are mendatory
-
Doing it from memory.
First thing I learned before any time in the air.
- ‘how do I turn this thing on from scratch?’
-
Do it from memory but I have to admit, I’ll have to overhaul my memory on next version, too.
-
learned it and within maybe 10 starts i can do the whole thing from memory, tests included.

If I’m current & comfortable, from memory, then a quick glance at the checklist to ensure all that I’ve done is per checklist.
If I’m not current, checklist all the way.
-
As my “memory” most times eludes me these days, I keep the checklist handy at all times
Though in RL checklists are mandatory before you even approach the aircraft, unless your flying a Red jet……LOL!!!demer
