Cockpit zoom keystroke
-
Hi everyone, I’m back flying Falcon after a long hiatus (and enjoying this much improved version of BMS). I have a quick question that I can’t seem to figure out. Is there a way to bind cockpit zoom to a keystroke or joystick buttons? I see that you can use the mousewheel to zoom but I don’t want to use my trackir or a mouse, simple laptop and joystick is the setup.
I did a search in the forum and found this but it still doesn’t make sense to me: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?19316-View-zoom-In-out-does-not-work&highlight=cockpit+zoom
I read that as saying there is no way to do it which seems bizarre? Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for the help.

Make sure you have one of these in your keyfile or bind them directly to a directx button
FOVToggle This command toggles the out-the-window (OTW) view field toggles between 60 degrees (normal) and 20 degrees (narrow).
FOVDecrease This command increases the OTW view field by an increment that may be specified in the .cfg file.
FOVIncrease This command decreases the OTW view field by an increment that may be specified in the .cfg file.
FOVDefault This command returns the OTW view field to the default value set in the config fileI find FOVToggle worthless as it toggles to a narrow 20(!) degrees. I have FOVInc/Dec on two buttons of my throttle and am using the X55’s latch programming to use a toggle in/out with single button press (nose in cockpit, nose out of cockpit).

Thanks for that. I suppose what would work for me is to change the “look Closer” keystroke’s FOV to a slightly higher value as 20 is too narrow. I currently have “3d pit” as a button therefore when pressed it resets my view when I’m panning with the hat. As well, I have “look closer” as another button if I need to zoom in. If I could change the FOV value of “look closer” then I’d be set. Where would I find that 20 value to edit it?

Afaik you can’t change the 20 deg default close-up value - https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?11737-FOVToggle-s-close-up-FOV-value&highlight=FOVToggle
Thus I find that callback questionable - would love to be corrected though.
I’m using the single inc/dec toggle button for my two heads-down/eyes-out back and forth with g_fFOVIncrement 20 - that’s all I have.

u can bind the L letter it’s max zoom and has 3 stages.
Normal
max zoom
previous zoom level (if u had zoomed with the mouse wheel for example)so pressing it 3 times will cycle those 3 stages.
Not sure if this is assigned in BMS keystoke key file but it is in the keystrokes key file.

Hi Guys! In the configuration page, what is more realistic/correct FOV: 60, 65, 70, 75 or 80? Thx

depends on your monitor(s) resolution.

depends on your monitor(s) resolution.
In my monitor is 1024 x 768 and in my tv is 1920x1080.
